Apropos to some of the music, I'm nibbling on a couple of mezze from Al Basha in Paterson NJ (the takeout location on Main St.) that I got yesterday that I'd never had before: bakdunsiah, defined as "parsley, tahina, and lemon zest", and turkiya, defined as "tomato paste, onions, chili". The first is OK, but the second is phenomenal! I wonder where you get such great tomato paste and what kind of edible crack they secretly put in it.

The edible crack probably comes from everything being reasonably fresh. Anything made with freshly roasted or stewed tomatoes generally blows store-bought tomato paste out of the water. I would guess "turkiya" just means "turkish".

For dinner I cooked for my fam some chicken cutlets with cayenne and peppers along with penne pasta in a homemade tomato sauce (canned crushed tomatoes) with fresh garlic and basil. And a chickpea veggie burger for me.
