@TDK60: have you seen the Blank Forms book on Don Cherry, Organic Music Societies? It's a tremendous document of Don and Moki's life from late 60s into the 70s.

It is somewhat overwhelming. It's not clear that much is added by so many discs, but I kind of liked each one.

Jeff Golick:

That's probably not in the Pavone pitch materials, I'm guessing, @hyde.

From the CvsD album write-up re Lee: "At the onset of COVID, the cellist was called to travel to Korea to be with her dying father. The trip was sudden and didn’t allow her to bring her instrument, but once there she was unable to return to New York because of the stringent lockdown. For months she was stranded without her cello, unable to practice or make any music. This intense alienation took a long time to lift. Indeed, even after she made it back to the States, Lee found it impossible to reconnect with the music for a period. The invitation to make a new solo CD for BCSS inspired her to jump-start her playing and in the process, she has made one of the most profound and beautiful CDs in recent memory,"
Avatar 🦀 10:27am
Listener Gregory:

That Gregg (sic) Belisle-Chi album of solo acoustic guitar versions of Tim Berne compositions was really fantastic. And the Anna Webber Idiom album, of small and large electro-acoustic groups playing the same compositions was also notable, IMHO.
  10:28am
DJpeterDE:

Snark Horse is now available on Bandcamp as six individual albums. (Also, just realized there are self-released live recordings going back to the teens.)

Mostly FMU, The New Yorker and the Times sometimes have interesting posts. John Schaeffer does a morning Gig Alert I like to catch. @jeff good point about 482. How do you set up the Bandcamp email? (Is there an easy way to search for other campers who overlap with your purchases -- I know if I select a listener it will tell me that we overlap but I'd like a list of people who I may not know that I overlap with.)

Back in the 80s and early 90s it was art school friends, college radio, and spending hours at Tower Records on Newbury Street. Now it is 99.9% WFMU and an occasional impulse purchase on Bandcamp based solely on the cover art and band name. That was my Tower Records strategy as well. Surprisingly effective.

@DJpeterDE, on the page of the album you are interested, you see a bunch of pictures at the end the page, their pictures/avatars, people that are following the particular artist. If you click on the avatar, you can see their purchases, and decide if what they like appeals to you; if so, you have an option on the page to follow them.

Just a quick hello to say how much I'm enjoying this show even if my wallet is not, and to note that I worked in several Boston record stores in the 70's/80's, including a great small one in the early 80's called Rebop Records on Newbury, just a couple doors up from NC. It was such a great store that most of the folks who worked at NC, especially the dj's at 'MBR, shopped at it. Also worked at Strawberries in Kenmore, and even in the Musicsmith at the Chestnut Hill Mall(late 70's). Anyway, great show!

@hyde Rebop was located in what became a mystery book store. Don't even know if that's still there now, but you had to walk downstairs to get to it. 80-82 was it's run before the owners closed it up. It was closer to Mass Ave. Had a much deeper collection of UK and US indy singles at the time then Newbury, and a huge display on the back wall behind the register of all of them!

One of the things that makes Bandcamp a great place to get music is that a purchase includes unlimited downloads, so at least anything purchased there is secure (buy an album elsewhere on vinyl-if you're lucky enough that it includes a download card, it is usually for an mp3, not WAV or FLAC as Bandcamp does, and it's for 1 download only). You don't even need to download-I often go to the Bandcamp amp when I'm driving and stream my albums from the app. Not to mention it's artist friendly...)
