for me, Television was an ultra-important life-changer. Television was the 'bridge' between prog and punk, for me (and many). i'm not so nuts about verlaine's solo career, but it wasn't bad, either.

I agree - the production was pretty thin on a couple of those LPs but I contend there's treasures on all of 'em. The early ones have more sonic punch I'd say, with exceptions. Was raving about "Days on the Mountain" earlier - that one is widescreen and epic.

It's really easy to make sauerkraut. Get the freshest best cabbage you can find. Cut it into thin shreds. Add 1 tbsp salt per lb of sauerkraut. WORK IT with your hands - this part is important - it liberates a lot of juice that the kraut ferments in. Min 5 minutes of kneading.

Then I add caraway seeds or mustard seeds. (I like both but prefer caraway). Transfer to a jar. Pack it in! (I use a pestle). Then place a whole cabbage leaf over the top of the shreds and use some kind of weight or spring thing to hold the cabbage below the surface of the liquid (this is important b/c otherwise you get mold). I use these www.ballmasonjars.com... they work great but you can improvise.

"When guitar players play together it seems like a conversation. How would you describe the interplay between you and Tom Verlaine?"
RL: "I think of it as gears, like in a wristwatch or motorcars traveling at different speeds to get someplace. Or a jigsaw puzzle. Your part might not make sense on its own, but connected with the other part, it fits.

Post show update: The version of "Kingdom Come" I played was from TV's round of "farewell" shows at the Bottom Line in 1978. They went out in a blaze of glory!
