i miss the days (well, it was mostly before my time) of when theoretical architecture was seen in material space, not just virtual....

and while i'm tangenting, i've seen psychogeography w/in the discipline of architecture, while I was quite unsuccessful in lobbying for a psychogeography class in the geography department at Hunter during my MA malaise there..

Psychogeography is the exploration of urban environments that emphasizes interpersonal connections to places and arbitrary routes. It was developed by members of the Letterist International and Situationist International, which were revolutionary groups influenced by Marxist and anarchist theory as well as the attitudes and methods of Dadaists and Surrealists. via wikithingy

Some of the best benefits I have ever had was from a gov't job. During a sabbatical from the artworld I was a programming librarian for the City of Marfa. We even had helicopter coverage since we were so geographically isolated. Crazy!

when i worked for the federal government, i had excellent 401k, good pay, and amazing health coverage (case in point, sliced my hand from the wrist to the tip of my thumb cleaning a beer glass, after tourniquetting myself, and taking a car to NYU, getting x-rayed, stitched, etc, (no wait), cost me $75 out of pocket. when my job was ending, i went to see a slew of doctors, saw a dentist, and got my first pair of glasses, all of the above cost me maybe $20 copays, glasses, 1/2 frames...

anything put in a spatial context is geography, whether it's a marxist analysis of indigenous female guatamalan work patterns, how to best maintain a rail infrastructure, or how interactions of the corporeal body w/ space can inhibit or enhance certain behaviors, impulses, or states of mind....

and back to where i started. Parametric architecture is really just architecture determined and influenced by parametric equations. While le cornbusier used more static examples his work, a lot of the examples today are more less continuously dynamic in execution (ie: the ai-influenced works referenced above).
