When we moved to Princeton there was some kind of upscale thing going on and my wife wanted to go in but she was embarrassed that I was wearing a WPKN t-shirt and everyone else was all dolled up but I went in with her anyway and this woman walked up to me and said she loved WPKN. I asked her if whe ever listened to WFMU and she walked away. My wife then told me that she was the head of the Princeton library that was nearby.

Don in Tampere:

Hello Brian and all of you here. went out for live music two nights in a row and stayed up too late, and am feeling all of my many years, but enjoying the show as always.
I don't know why stations have to be snobby to each other. Interesting to see how different the patsh can be. I DJ'd at the local campus station WDAV in college, which they suddenly boosted the power on during my senior year. Then the next year they took control away from the students and turned it from a sometimes messy, sometimes great free-form station into a fundraising instrument playing the most inoffensive classical music possible - no Penderecki for them, thank you! Then during grad school I was at WQAX, which was campus-only, but later developed into WFHB.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22am
Brian D:

Yes. I even played a clip about that when it was in the headlines. However, as someone who has spasms, I don't find Dave's moniker offensive.

But once when I was down there and was reading in an Austin newspaper about a rape case where the woman said ok I'll let you rape me just use a condom so I won't have to have your baby. The jury said that was consensual and let the rapist off. I said yeah it may be Austin but it's still Texas.
