Happiness being a particular state - the mere act of trying to objectively consider it has potential to remove us from it. (Aside of course from it being an Abstract Noun - a Word for a Concept that can be Defined - Made Finite - in many ways...)
Tho I think of course it *may* be considered & experienced @ the same time (saying 'I am really Happy now', & meaning it... &.or speaking of different degrees, durations & distinctions of Happiness...)
Buddhist podcast Audio Dharma once proposed we should be Scientists of our own Happiness. When we approach any task - we tend to consider which tools are appropriate to it. But to our own Selves - our Consciousness & Contentment & Understanding - how seldom do we consider our own state of Awareness !...

It was a stand-alone place near NYU for many years, open very late so that blackout-drunk students could go there and eat cheap at 4:30 a.m. Now I believe it has become a chain, or at least it has a few locations.
