Ah, here it is.

Redd Phosphorus

This ruddy collins takes its name from Hiram "Redd" Txiocolachkus, an itinerant card sharp who, despite his vaguely Basque surname, claimed to have emigrated from a mountain village nestled somewhere between Albania, Lithuania, and Mars. Redd spent his his early years collecting and milling guano from the front porches of his village, and selling it to a nearby match factory. This early entrepreneurship may account for the general impression that Redd was batshit crazy; but he was good with cards, especially a trick where he'd have his mark draw a card, then, while holding one hand to his forehead in a show of high-stakes guessing, use his other hand to strike a book of matches without closing the cover. As the match book burst into flame, with a flick of his wrist, Redd would cause it to appear about three inches before the eyes of his startled mark. "Fire!" Redd would cry, and "Seltzer!" At which an accomplice, whose name we never did get, tossed him a soda siphon from behind the bar. Catching it, Redd would extinguish the flames at some cost to the mark's dryness, meanwhile lifting the poor schlub's wallet. Then, Redd would say, "Is this your card?" and proffer an Ace of Hearts. When the mark said no, Redd would reply, "Nu, better luck next time," and skedaddle before the theft was discovered.

2oz Glen Passaic
six safety matches
seltzer
Ace of Hearts

Break heads off five of the safety matches, and muddle to a fine powder in a steel shaker. Drizzle in Glen Passaic, whisking all the while, until fully dissolved. Transfer to a Collins glass, warm in a hot water bath, and ignite with the remaining match. When a light char forms around the sides of the glass, extinguish with seltzer, and cover with the Ace of Hearts, to conserve the fumes.

You won't have an opportunity to pay tribute to Branford Marsalis--who surely deserves it--because his birthday falls this year on a Saturday, but next on a Monday, due to the leap year.
