Here's a little gift dredged up from my lower drive directories. Back in 2007, I got the thought of putting together a compilation framing Jethro Tull as a folk rock band, in there with the Fairports and the Steeleyes -- as they once sort of were. After the listening legwork, I never carried on to the actual work of digitizing vinyl and burning a disc, but I find that I still have the tracklist, so here y'go. Album sources and years in the parentheses. It's probably a cinch to throw together a streamer playlist nowadays.

Tasteful Tull
or: The Humble British Folk-Rock Band Trying To Get Out

1. A Song For Jeffrey (This Was/1968)
2. Beggar's Farm (This Was/1968)
3. Fat Man (Stand Up/1969)
4. Sossity; You’re A Woman (Benefit/1969)
5. Witch's Promise (Living In The Past/1969)
6. Just Trying To Be (Living In The Past/1970)
7. Wond'ring Again (Living In The Past/1970)
8. Cheap Day Return (Aqualung/1970)
9. Mother Goose (Aqualung/1970)
10. Wond'ring Aloud (Aqualung/1970)
11. Up To Me (Aqualung/1970)
12. Up The 'Pool (Living In The Past/1971)
13. Dr. Bogenbroom (Living In The Past/1971)

Well — One asterisk: Banks was very bossy and always had Rutherford on his side for group votes. He could often get to three votes and win. Both Gabriel and Hackett left because they felt their ideas were not winning that much. In an interview years later, Gabriel said some group members who were more “bloody minded” tended to win out on artistic decisions. I knew who he meant. But because everyone went on to be satisfied with their careers, I don’t think any hardcore grudges were really held.

Also maybe worth noting that Mike Rutherford was always the “second guitarist” as well as bassist in Genesis, and helped shape their guitar approach, particularly that 12-string side of it (which is often a “double 12-string” side, one of the foundations of Genesis’ style is parts written for two 12-strings played together)

Oh yeah, for sure there were intra-band politics and disagreements, with so many strong artists, etc. but they still seem to take care of one another from a biz POV, there are no shortage of recent interviews with all of them together, sit ins, playing for one another's charity events, etc. All things considered, they've been good to one another, IMO.

Wasn’t the Anthony P an early Genesis deoarture due to accelerating stage fright? Or am I confusing him with the early departed Genesis drummer?

In Bill Bruford's memoir he talks about how pleasant Genesis was to tour with. They treated all the wives like equals etc. (obviously in contrast to other rockstar bands).

Key meant a mechanism that makes something work, like a key for a lock. The piano key operates a mechanism that makes the string sound. Keyboard was a 1800s term for the “board” of keys playing piano strings. Keyboards was shortened in the later 1900s to keys.
