I played one season of pee wee tackle football in 4th grade. My position was tight end. I was very bad at tackle football, but my team was quite good and only lost one game that season.

although i was good at football (wr), i wasn't allowed to play, as my parents were afraid i'd get hurt. suited me, as i was good at soccer, and proceeded to nearly destroy my body before I was 17....(got concussed many times in soccer).

i remember when in school there was to be no more tackle football; only "touch" football now.
i refused to play from then on, as 2 of my 3 redeeming values as a player were thereby obliterated: tackling (by strategy), and being resistant to tackling (by strategy).
my 3rd redeeming value was speed; but being resistant to catching the ball, the speed (and the tackle-resistance) only did me any good if someone had the faith to stuff the ball into my arms.

Was a terrible athlete in school, basketball, baseball, touch football (didn't have tackle in my school). Did manage to avoid those injuries until, as an adult, I took up mountain biking-broke my finger, and badly broke my left elbow(never healed quite rightly)

i despised how seriously some of the kids took the games, and their fathers too. (and it's much worse now)
so by 10th grade i flat-out refused to participate in anything i didn't actually enjoy doing. never learned the rules of football, soccor (but somehow "excelled" in it), or basketball.
it must've been frustrating for the gym teachers, this kid that broke the school records for the 600-yard dash, the horizontal ladder and possibly the no-legged rope climb to fail me almost every semester.

as a player/manager, i wouldn't allow anyone overly competitive on my team. We were all artists/musicians. So, some seasons we were awful, although we won the league once. It was more about having fun and giving everyone a shot.
