it's the case of middle-sized cities and larger in western Europe, and mainly large cities in NA... (a middle sized city like orlando, it's b/c the developers have an almost cartel hold on the real estate market, so, everything here is artificially inflated b/c of that (also the case in other sunbelt cities)

There's a lot of building going on; whole new neighborhoods. And all with dense but tasteful apartment buildings. But builders can't keep up with the pace!

his first 4, maybe 5 solo albums are very good.
he was great, before he sucked!
(you'd certainly know some songs from those albums)

NGH: from my barstool over here, I feel Stewart's first three albums are darn good. Similar sound to Faces.

sounds good, while in rotterdam, i rode my bike past some street construction where cobble stones were taken up to get to something underneath, a few hours later i came back same way and work was complete, whereas in u.s. it would take months to complete work like that. i think an example of good urban planning on a micro level in holland

it took 15 years to widen I-4 from Daytona through Orlando into Kissimmee (80 km), w/ the toll 408 and FL turnpike interchanges. Just finished in April.

Yes, planning is always very well taken care of here. And great bicycle lanes present and growing.

To my mind (and, for that matter, butt) furniture does not require "design." But housing does, and Corbu gave it the good college try.

everything requires design, whether it's an afterthought, or a biproduct of efficiency (or lack thereof).

That, but we might pay more in taxes; that pays for things working well.
  8:54pm
Dean:

I disagree. A chair: 1) thing you sit upon; 2) four things the hold up the thing you sit upon; 3) vertical element that extends from one of the sides of the thing you sit upon. Done. If that's design, then I'm Albert Einstein.

true about taxes and the concept of the public sphere is prob more collapsed here to think about things working well

wrong. a rock is not a chair; a table is not a chair. a chair is a specifically designed device. (it doesn't have to have 4 legs though)
and even so, you're not Albert Einstein.
