SGV isn't bougie, is it? IDK about Cali, but elsewhere, TJ's only opens stores in upscale or college-y areas, which is kinda odd since it is so cheap. Or "discount gourmet" I guess. So half the people who don't like it are the ones who don't understand it and haven't looked at the prices. But also their refusal to open them in more middling/weirdo neighborhoods seems outdated and I think they might be leaving some money on the table.

David Crosby wrote the song, but The Byrds never did a vocal track. Sherry Snow who was a girlfriend of David, and Jeff Blackburn started a duo - Blackburn & Snow. They did a finished version that never broke the charts in 1966, which is shame, because it smashes. Sherry went on to sing with Dan Hicks, and Jeff went on to be in The Ducks with Neil Young.

Can't guarantee every detail is 100% accurate but: I believe Upsala had less and less to do with FMU throughout the 80s and 90s. Folks at FMU observed questionable mismanagement at the college in the 90s. They became concerned that Upsala might suddenly realize it could sell FMU's license to a Christian broadcaster or NPR for $$$$ (fortunately Upsala was too incompetent to figure this out), and so borrowed money to form an indie arts org and buy its own license (hence Auricle Communications DBA WFMU). After the college went belly up, it still took them a while to escape the dead campus (hence there was a premium comp called Live Music from a Dead Campus).
