Gotta give that, Relayer, a chance. I did, after thinking, because I wasn’t that familiar, that that and Relayer just missed. But they’ve both got great moments.
Did a lot of listening during the pandemic. And Yes was a big part of it.

And, I don’t care what anybody says: Tormato is a GREAT album despite it being slogged. They buckled up, wrote shorter and spunkier tunes presumably in response to punk, and put together an amazing record for that time.

Lastly, Going For The One is a masterpiece.

@Dean. "Another Trip to Earth" appears to be blue vinyl, not splatter though. Digging this cut Dave is playing -- some Colosseum mixed with VDGG?

The very commonly seen bootleg of the WNEW livecast of Yes’s 1976 Jersey City (Roosevelt Stadium) show has I’m Down as its final encore. With Howe’s 110mph solo.

Dean:

You're correct, Will. Around that time there were, like today, lots of colored vinyl releases.

I probably did get a good grade, Jackie G. As I did when I submitted an annotated issue of Playboy to the same class.

The Peter Gabriel Bondage connection was ripe back in '75, for sure. Half the draw to the latter was the echo of the former name.

A few years ago Gabriel played across the street from where I work on the Berkeley campus. I mentioned this the very day to a friend in SoCal who has...connections, shall we say. A week later I received from him a package in the mail: a CD-R of the show.

Tornado has some sludge, but some great tracks — the opening and closing tracks, and Release Release (about the latter, Atlantic had obviously asked them to do a straight up rock song for commercial reasons, but it’s a very quirky one haha)

Ha, excellent!

Sentimental favorite for me. But yeah, does have a freshness of spirit, pulsates, catchy and beautiful stuff.

I’d venture that all that carries over to Drama, which even without Anderson and Wakeman is still amazing.

For many hardcore Yes people, Tales is the peak — intertwined motifs throughout all four sides. A more recent release of Tales has studio run throughs (well developed drafts) of sides 1 and 3.

1971's Fragile changed my life. When I heard Yes' America in 1972, I thought for sure it would be on Close to the Edge. When it wasn't, my dad was nice enough to drive my 15-year-old self from Elmont to Titus Oaks record store in Brooklyn to pick up a copy of The New Age of Atlantic. I think I have two vinyl copies of that now. I could have sworn that that that original was flatter than the version on Yesterdays, but memory, you know. I just lost some more hearing. Thanks, Dave!
