	4:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63: I think Meditation is about both being Aware yet Relaxing the mind @ the same time. Something that only happens with Practice ...& yet, one can start from Anywhere ! Like focusing on the center of flower ...one's attention will drift. But - to fret about that is to drift further ( & more noisily) away still. So ...accept that - & go back again. Observe the thot & sensations that arise, but do not be attached to them, in other words. So ...the most elemental thing one can focus on to enable this is - Breath. Inhalations & Exhalations. & obviously - there is a physical aspect of relaxation & consciousness too. A Mantra - a spiritual syllable or phrase - fits in there somewhere I suppose. (I don't wholly discount the idea such could have special resonance of whatever kind ...but where specifics are unknown - so are conclusions...) People around TheBeatles have said that the Maharashi gave them each Mantras which they were supposed to never tell anyone else ...but comparing them later ...they were the same... Lennon once quipped that as the West had Pop Stars, India had Yogis & HolyMen...

	4:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63: I think Meditation is about both being Aware yet Relaxing the mind @ the same time. Something that only happens with Practice ...& yet, one can start from Anywhere ! Like focusing on the center of flower ...one's attention will drift. But - to fret about that is to drift further ( & more noisily) away still. So ...accept that - & go back again. Observe the thot & sensations that arise, but do not be attached to them, in other words. So ...the most elemental thing one can focus on to enable this is - Breath. Inhalations & Exhalations. & obviously - there is a physical aspect of relaxation & consciousness too. A Mantra - a spiritual syllable or phrase - fits in there somewhere I suppose. (I don't wholly discount the idea such could have special resonance of whatever kind ...but where specifics are unknown - so are conclusions...) People around TheBeatles have said that the Maharashi gave them each Mantras which they were supposed to never tell anyone else ...but comparing them later ...they were the same... Lennon once quipped that as the West had Pop Stars, India had Yogis & HolyMen...
