In HS we had a tree house on an island in the Passaic River near the Outwater Lane bridge to Clifton.
We'd cut school on Fridays & if the river was low enough go out and hang there.
Once we were out there & they must've released water from the upriver dam & we were stuck there for hours.
Someone must have seen us & called the school & the school truant officer came to the river bank and was yelling at us to come in "I have all day to wait."
We didn't..he left after about an hour.

Left at 11AM to work at the old SubBase on River Rd. (Now The Royal Warsaw Restaurant) where I was supposed to work from Noon until 4PM.
The night manager would come in and ask if I'd like to work until closing.
Sure....Started at $2.85 hr. eventually made $3.25.
He taught me everything from reconciling receipts, to ordering supplies, worker scheduling etc., all over a couple of Black Horse Ales at closing time.
Education I could never get from a classroom.

We vacationed in Cape Cod in the 80's several times, with first wife's family.
Took the kids to Plymouth Rock for a bit of "historical context.'
