There's a New Orleans station, 101.9, that plays Christmas music 24/7 from Thanksgiving on. (eyeroll!) Only about a 50-75 song playlist, haha, but one of them is the Brenda Lee "Rockin Around the Christmas Tree." Also big is the Brenda Lee "Papa Noel" ("Down on the Bayou") local-theme Cajun Christmas song.

The guy working for a department store in Chicago, maybe Mays, who was assigned to write a Christmas song, looked out at the fog on Lake Michigan and came up with the Rudolph plotline. His bosses thought a red shining nose would scare kids and did not support the song. But it worked out ok. Kids get triumphing over bullying.
