Second Comment! Moo how! - loved that opening piece. Woody, is it on CD? And exactly what year was it recorded.released?
  12:19pm
Woody:

Hey there-

Yep, Deep Wireless 1 can be found online at:
http://www.naisa.ca/deepwireless/2004/Radio.html

The cd is from 2004 although I'm not sure about that particular piece.

jacob:

what magazine had you read this guys reviews in? Did you say "Huana"??
  12:32pm
NEUstudio:

It's very touching hearing old Rebetica here in Athens Greece from a station in NY.
Well done.
PS check Rosa Eskenazi recordings and Yiovan Tsauf.
  12:35pm
Kosta Ghikas:

Great to hear Marika - my grandad was in new york as an immigrant in 1911 - same name as me, but in the US he was , of course... GUS!
Keep 'em coming
  12:36pm
Andrew:

My brother recently wandered into the True Vine and someone (presumably Ian?) turned him on to a box set of Greek music, sublime and mysterious. Cheers, really enjoying the show.

Woody:

It was Halana magazine..... great magazine from late 90s although there were just 4 (or 5?) issues. Probably out of print but definitely worth looking for...

The PeeChees! Yeah! Most obnoxious vocals ever to hit vinyl!
  2:13pm
Wes:

Okay now this is what I call good music. Excellent set.
  2:17pm
Woody:

Hey Lupica-

Somehow I remembered an old wfmu blog post of yours of youtube videos and I believe the Peechees were doing that song (Mad Doctor)...

I saw them, jesus a long time ago, and they brought their own light rig for the venue (burriot restaurant/rock club). hot!
  2:27pm
Lupica:

Yep, I did indeed put that video (from one of the Kill Rock Stars video comps) on the blog a while back. So great! Their second album left me a little cold, but "Do the Math" is totally stellar, as is their split single with the Drags. (Can't believe I am still able to summon up details like this ten+ years after the fact...)
  2:35pm
nh_dave:

Totally groovin' to this
