Saw EC with the Attractions touring Imperial Bedroom and then again for Useless Beauty and they rocked both shows! Wish I caught the Imposters' tour where they used a roulette wheel to determine the set though...

ok, stop me if you heard this one: i was stuck in traffic in scranton and i happened to locate the college station as i was siting there. the dj put on some of the best techno i had ever heard. my son was flabbergasted that i was thumping the wheel and shaking the car with the beat. he was so embarrassed, but that was some good music... and as i said, the car's speakers are the secret..
  10:16am

Jason, this song is some haunting shiznit.
  10:33am

it's so dark outside and this track is bumming me out, jason
  10:37am
Parq:

An interesting take on "Born In" -- the music blog "Cover Me" occasionally does full albums - track by track covers of entire albums. Here's the one they did for the Boss's iconic 80s release.

Man Who Came To Kill Gets Knocked Out!
  11:14am
Cecile:

I saw Elvis Costello in 1984 solo with my 13 year old sister. It was ok with the guitar, but when he moved to the piano, both of us were over him so fast it was unbelievable. We left at intermission and got ice cream. I keep trying, but except for the odd single here and there, and other people's covers, I'm not so into EC
  11:16am
dc pat:

aaahh, thanks Cecile. I'm TOTAlly with you.
  11:16am
dc pat:

that stupid car commercial didn't help...
  11:17am
uncle lonely:

i saw that mope in chicago years ago and he was pathetic through and through.
  11:17am
Cecile:

I have those first three albums in my DNA, and This Year's Model is a fantastic album that I could probably sing like Nick the Bard.

But cause I love all ya'll, I'll spare you.
  11:19am
Cecile:

ahaha! DNA! this is a GOOD day!
  11:21am
Bad Ronald:

No worries here. I am staunch! I even dug the Burt Bacharach deal...
  11:23am
annie:

(whispering quietly) i like elvis costello. :(
  11:23am
Cecile:

Bad Ron, you are the kind of fan any artist would be lucky to have.
  11:23am
Cecile:

annie, I used to! really!
  11:25am
annie:

i love his weird diversity... and that thing he did, the juliet series. it was great
  11:25am
stingy d:

i like elvis costello more than jean grae
  11:25am
Parq:

I saw Elvis in '77, just a little while before he did his infamous Sat Nite Live stand. The only album most Amers knew was "My Aim Is True" and folks in Boston thought him a pretender to the Graham Parker throne. Most of us had never even heard him with the Attractions. The set was heavy with "This Year's Model" and roared like thunder. Needless to say, it completely changed our perceptions of him.
  11:25am
Bad Ronald:

Don't get me wrong. Everyone missteps, some more often than others. But I gotta say he has come back around. Momofuku was not stellar but it did not totally suck!
  11:27am
Cecile:

Believe me, folks, Patti Smith has dragged me through some crap and yet I remain completely loyal...
  11:27am
annie:

twelve was great!
  11:27am
uncle lonley:

momfuku is a fancy restuarant... he named his record after expensive food.
  11:28am
dc pat:

that's an interesting topic: who have you followed through thick and thin and why?
  11:28am
Bad Ronald:

Parq - If you listen to any of the bootlegs from that era there is no doubt the Attractions were a force to be reckoned with.
  11:28am
Parq:

Well, Declan's doing that Elder Statesman bit, same as Nick Lowe and Ray Davies. I dunno, I just don't think rock & roll is about old guys.
  11:29am
UNCLE LONELY!!!:

YIEA YIEA!!! BLOWE BLOWE!!!!

me affi gwan killya pussyclot bottybwoy!
  11:29am

Momofuku is the guy who invented the instant noodles. The album was made rather quickly hence the title...

  11:29am

10-4 BR. I still clutch jealously to my cassette recording of the radio-only "Live at El Macambo" album.
  11:30am
annie:

i'm willing to give greg brown one more chance..
i've been a fan of his since dream cafe.
i love john prine and will listen to anything he has to sing or say. and laurie anderson, too..
  11:31am
dc pat:

parq: 10-4 on old guys, I wish Sonic Youth would hang it up.
  11:31am
Bad Ronald:

I often spin that one Parq. The guy screaming incessantly in the audience cracks me up!
  11:31am
Cecile:

I like Nick Lowe's elder stateman music. I'm split on Ray Davies'. And I will also follow Fred and Toody Cole into hell as well.

Mark E. Smith and the Fall.
I used to be a diehard Megadeth fan until Dave finally lost it and became a nutjob wingnut.

I still kind of care about Metallica, even though I shouldn't.

I gave up on Sonic Youth around Sonic Nurse. I loved that weird mid 90s stuff. I must have been the only one.
  11:31am
Shepherd:

Jason, this song is awesome.
  11:33am
annie:

(to name a few) i'm pretty monogamous with band loyalty, will stick through anything... and you can't beat, with any stick, gordon bok
  11:33am
Bad Ronald:

Yeah John Prine does it.

The Dickies have never let me down!
  11:33am
north guinea hills:

dude, i miss aaron spectre since he moved to berlin. his dulcimer drum & bass pieces were deep....
  11:33am

Speaking of LA, I even liked the Weirdo's later stuff. They always were interesting.
  11:34am
Chad:

Yo -- can you PLEASE tell us more about Bloodclot Gangsta Youth? I can't find that track you played anywhere! Gotta have it, man! THANKS for playing it!
  11:34am
dc pat:

I hate any album after a band's first one...just kiddin.

The Ex is the only band I stick with through it all.
  11:35am
GP:

Lee "Scratch" Perry can do no wrong.
  11:35am
uncle lonely:

yea i'm with chad
  11:35am
dc pat:

yeah, bloodclat gangsta was right on.
  11:35am
Cecile:

I just wish Captain Beefheart would make one more record. It could be frickin' TaTu covers, and I wouldn't care. Just one more record.

The Ex have a great track record.
  11:36am
dc pat:

  11:41am
dc pat:

  11:41am
Bad Ronald:

Cool Annie thanks for the update. Have you heard back from Joe M?
  11:42am

  11:46am
annie:

i'm sitting here realizing that my head hasn't stopped bobbing to the beat for half an hour at least. yeah BR, he's already fussing about where and when to drop em off.
  11:47am
uncle lonely:

any info you find abotu bloodclot ganster youth would be much oblgied chad... i'm struggling over here
  11:47am
Swami:

Gotta love the kinski
  11:48am
Parq:

I'm kind of Annie's flip side -- if you bore me, you're gone, no matter how much I still love your old stuff. Shrugged of recent mediocreties from Bowie, XTC (although they redeemed themselves with Wasp Star) and others. Don't get me started on the Stones or McCartney. And I would totally buy an album of Captain Beefheart taTu covers.
  11:50am
uncle lonely:

bloodclot gangster youth's label lacksinfo on their website... despite being called do tinfo... odd

  11:50am

  11:52am
annie:

great show jason, thanks for bringing me up to snuff today
  11:52am
dc pat:

right on Parq, I don't have time for crappy albums when there's so much good stuff out there....ditto on Beefheart.
  11:54am
Bad Ronald:

Yeah great show Jason, I dig this Sikhara track quite a bit. Thanks!
  11:54am
