I drank absinthe once. It cost me £6 British pounds. It was so strong by the time I'd drunk it I was incapable of telling whether I was getting an alcohol buzz or a wormwood drug buzz from it. I've never drunk it again. You can also buy absinthe in Amsterdam , together with other more potent substances, which I haven't tried.

Lionel Trains were big in the late 1940's and 50's. Also, plastic was invented down the street from me in London in 1928. Did not come into pratical use until WW2.
