  3:55pm
north guinea hills:

There's something endearing when Irwin plays contempo country. it reminds me of my old home of FLA. God, I hated that music back when I lived there, why do I wax nostalgically for it now....
  3:57pm
Parq:

Oh Irwin, you old popmeister, you.
  3:58pm
Sophisticated Boing-Boing:

is new york still sans a country station?
  4:01pm
GP:

NGH...I hear you. When I was in Cambridge ( quite a ways from Texas). I heard country music blaring from a boat house on the river. I had to check THAT out.....turns out thre manager was a country fan...just another surreal moment in my life.
  4:10pm
BSI:

Please play CONCRETE NIPPLES on a loop until I am dead.
Thanking you in advance for your appreciation in this matter,
I remain,
BSI
  4:11pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

BSI, I thnk a few short hours of that loop would have you sproutin' yer own pair
  4:12pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

maybe that was your goal, though...
  4:12pm
BSI:

hey weird,
is this HUMAN BEANS an extra track on a CD reissue? I don't remember this one from the 12" or the Chocolate Fireball Whatsit CD...
I could be senile, of course.
  4:13pm
Rampler:

there is no such thing as too much Concrete Nipples
  4:13pm
BSI:

oh, and DCE, now that you mention it...!
  4:14pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

this Human Beans thing is so catchy yet so STUPID!!
  4:17pm
Irwin:

like so much of the hippie music!
  4:18pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Amanda's picture and Syd Barrett's guitar playing--match made in heaven.
  4:18pm
Ike:

SBB: Yes, it's absent. Many radio people argue incessantly about its viability. Advertiser prejudice is an issue.

A *classic* country station would be cool (if it weren't all '90s country) but comm. radio stations here are all so overvalued and over-leveraged that they all desperately seek huge success instead of niches.
  4:22pm
GP:

For some country music ( classic and otherwise) that is not necessarily mainstream:

http://www.texasrebelradio.com/
  4:22pm
Chris:

Best. Segue. Ever.
  4:23pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

If you do not mind, I think I will take responsibility as your inspiration for the last two tracks.
  4:23pm
Carmichael:

See Amanda Play.
  4:23pm
jon:

Hootenanny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Hootenannies!!!!!!
  4:23pm
Trapper:

Did I miss Amanda?
  4:24pm
huge:

fabulous segue
  4:24pm
Trapper:

Ah, looks like yes...
  4:25pm
Carmichael:

Plenty more where that came from, Trap. Just look at that stack of cassettes.
  4:25pm
MaJiK 8 Ball:

All signs point to YES
  4:29pm
BSI:

egad, sudden meeting.
keep the amanda on ice!
I'll be back with concrete hootenanny!
  4:29pm
north guinea hills:

I love this posies song.....
  4:30pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

back in the 90s my band would stop practicing around 1am and we'd get in the car and sing this song. except the chorus was "when do we get laid?"
  4:30pm
Eric Andre:

Can't believe you played Dave Cloud. I see him all the time here in Nashville. Quite a character that Dave Cloud.
  4:31pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

wow, I didn't realize that picture had a scroll bar...Amanda turned out hot!
  4:32pm
Laura L:

Thanks for The Clientele--wonderful album.
  4:32pm
Eric Andre:

Do you take requests? Love to here a R. Stevie Moore song. Is that passe on WFMU these days?
  4:33pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

@Eric Andre
are u kddin'? they play R Stevie Moore just about as much as Amanda!
  4:34pm
Trapper:

This Clientele song sounds a lot like 'Pure and Simple' by the Lightning Seeds
  4:36pm
Eric Andre:

I knew they used to play him all the time, but being in Nashville I don't get to listen to WFMU much. Only when I'm on the internet. Love to here something I haven't heard before. Of course having nearly 100 of his CD's I guess that would be a stretch. Anyways, keep up the good work Irwin. Loving the show.
  4:38pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I dunno, I didn't hear any "talk box" guitar in there!
  4:42pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

How can something purported to be the "complete works" have "bonus tracks"? If it did not include those tracks it would not be complete. Thus, they are not really a bonus at all.
  4:43pm
J-Mar:

Yo, Eric, another Nashvillian tuned in here!
  4:44pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

@Dum dum guy
especially when they're as stupid as that one!
  4:45pm
Eric Andre:

Cool. do I know you? You can look me up on the old facebooks.
  4:45pm
RSTVMO Opryland:

Nashville is a myth.
  4:46pm
Sophisticated Boing-Boing:

i keep thinking somebody pulled a "moby grape" on the 1987 amanda
  4:48pm
Bad Ronald:

This JWT track is sweet!
  4:48pm
J-Mar:

dude, it's Nashville. if we don't know each other, we know all the same folks.

yo, RSTVMO, if Nashville is a myth, does that mean R. Stevie Moore is a myth too?
  4:52pm
Eric Andre:

Worship Me!
  4:52pm
RSTVMO Opryland:

@J-Mar ... METH
  4:53pm
Eric Andre:

I heard AMANDA was a myth. Then I met Joseph and he told me she wasn't.
  4:54pm
PMD:

Hmm... wonder whether they are Revere Ware pots, or another type... And wonder how you tune them.
  4:55pm
AFC:

Irwin - oh my god is she still this exuberant?
  4:55pm
RSTVMO Opryland:

Manda is a Moth.
  4:55pm
Rampler:

I kneel before cookie
  4:56pm
Carmichael:

She used to look like the feral kid in Mad Max.
  4:56pm
Eric Andre:

Worship is hit worthy, but Concrete Nipples is the tune that got me hooked.
  4:56pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I bet the world's taken its toll on her youthful exuberance.
  4:56pm
Laurie:

100 Helens agree. So Cow is awesome.
  4:59pm
Eric Andre:

J-Mar. You did a live/interview with RSM way back when on WRVU. I actually have a DVD of it. I think we met at a hands of cuba show. Scott Martin is a really old friend of mine. We used to record together back in high school. I was one of the original members of Character. Small city I guess. You playing with anybody these days? Love the trumpet work.
  5:00pm
irin:

those Amanda tapes are truly gems. wtg Irwin
  5:02pm
J-Mar:

I told you it was a small town. Yeah, I just saw Scott and Ryan last night -- I'm playing with them at the Merge Records 20th anniversary show Friday night.

Wait a sec -- is the Joseph Whitt who lives in Nashville related to Amanda?
  5:04pm
BSI:

whew....
back to the magic!
  5:04pm
Barry:

Amanda,
Well you flamed and you raved without fakin',
And you blew me away,
Amanda,
Won't you throw down and get the house shakin',
We all kneel down and pray,
Aaamanda...
  5:05pm
RSTVMO Opryland:

Marx Jonathan! Ha! Did not make the connection, sorry. French connection. Lambchopped! Nashville is MATH.
  5:05pm
Eric Andre:

Yeah it's the same Joseph. I thought scott was in Europe.
  5:08pm
RSTVMO Opryland:

Hide everyone on Facebook newsfeeds. They be got way too much to say! She be like, then he be like. Sup, Andre!
  5:10pm
J-Mar:

Yes, R. Stevie, Nashville is math: everyone is separated by 1.5 degrees. Case in point: I work with a woman whose mom went to Maplewood with Mindy Dalton.

Eric, I am totally tripping on the Amanda-Nashville connection. Been listening to her for weeks now and didn't even know. The 'chop just got back from Europe late last week, and now they (we) are headed to NC for the Merge Fest.
  5:16pm
texas scott:

i'm with Martha...
  5:17pm
RSTVMO Opryland:

@IC, as if you haven't already dropped my magic name millions of times, plz always remember to inform your rapt audience where you originally discovered the Amanda epidemic! [buffs fingernails on coat lapels]
  5:19pm
J-Mar:

ah, it's all making sense now, RSTVMO....
  5:19pm
Eric andre:

Same to you RSTVMO. I believe I was a part of that.
  5:22pm
Eric Andre:

wanna see a hilarious short film with AMANDA and Joseph. Check out Daniel and the dunces of the universe. It's pretty funny.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ki_3U9OJ-is
  5:23pm
GP:

I love Amanda accent...ah, sweet home Alabama.
  5:24pm
RSTVMO Opryland:

Eric, that's right! Chicken or the egg? Where did it originate tween us? MySpace, correct? Did *YOU* alert me to her FIRST?? // Btw, several startling new photos of AW + RSM are on my Fakebook sector.
  5:25pm
Neil Young:

I'm outta here...
  5:26pm
Eric Andre:

I see those. Makes me Jealous on both fronts. You get to meet AMANDA and she gets to meet you.
  5:27pm
Parq:

So wait, is Jerserf their dad?
  5:28pm
RSTVMO Opryland:

  5:30pm
Eric Andre:

Those Darn Accordians sounds like something that Dr. Demento has probably played.
  5:31pm
Bozo Barrett:

Best thing since sliced bread.
  5:35pm
Laurie:

I loved that "Great Indoors" song. You sing it, girl.
  5:35pm
Eric Andre:

I'm still waiting to get some of those AMANDA cassettes with the original artwork. Joseph was telling me that they're now trying to put out an AMANDA " or quite possible a 12" record. That was back when I was working at the pressing plant. Not sure if he's still working on it or not now.
  5:36pm
Parq:

"Those Darn Accordions" is my new favorite band name, second only to the immortal "To Live And Shave In L.A.".
  5:49pm
Carmichael:

Those Darn Accordions are real big out here in CA. Gotta admit I like their sendup of Grand Funk (We're an Accordion Band).
  5:49pm
Rampler:

CHAOS!!!!!!
  5:50pm
J-Mar:

sounds like a perfect project for Sebastian Speaks, Eric.
  5:51pm
JLH:

why Brenda's my ma's name as well
  5:52pm
JLH:

where in Bama is Miss Amanda from?
  5:59pm
Parq:

I guess there's no chance of getting Manda and Jody back into the studio, say the FMU studio? Ah well, a guy can dream.
  3:31pm
Lizardner Dave:

Fantastic show. I can't wait to hear the rest of the interview.
  5:03pm
CR:

last weekend I watched the movie The Stork Club with my family and could not get over the very obvious, the very strong thread that appears to exist between Betty Hutton and our beloved Amanda.
