  9:16am
fishmonkeystew:

Gooooood Morning, Jason, Annie, Bad Ronald, and the rest of the WFMU world! Hope yer all staying warm on this brisk morning.
  9:22am
Bad Ronald:

Digging "L'Escalier Du Temps", thanks!
  9:25am
jason:

hey FMS and Annie!

Live music from Static Static and Fresh & Onlys comin up at 10 and 11
  9:27am
annie:

got the woodstove fired up.. the coffee just ain't doin the trick today.... looks like a two-pot morning!
  9:30am
jason:

damn annie, two pots? how many cups is that?
  9:35am
Chris:

Not enough the way I'm feeling this morning.
  9:51am
dc pat:

Hey cats, saw thee Oh Sees last night, every bit worth the hype. Very rockin show w/ wacky guitars and all--I have no idea what kind of 12 string that guy was playing but it sounded great. BUT, what stole the show (for me anyway) was the latest youth sub-culture craze: Tall Bikes, that's right. These crazy kids had two steel bikes welded one on top of the other, riding around 10 feet off the ground. Totally nuts. Have you all seen this up there?
  9:54am
dc pat:

this is the most minutemen-sounding band I've heard
  9:54am
fishmonkeystew:

Dc Pat, I saw that once about 2 or 3 years ago on Block Island, RI. Freakin' cool. I wanted to know how they got up on the bike.
  9:56am
dc pat:

yeah, that was the really interesting part. I waited around for the guys to come out, they just throw when leg up really high to get the foot on the peddle and jump. It seems to defy gravity.
  9:56am
doug from DC:

Pat, I've talked to a couple of tall bikers lately. They feel they're less likely to go through a windshield from up there. Plus there's the benefit of being able to see over SUVs.
  9:58am
annie:

jason, it's a large-size french press. so i can get two large cups of coffee for each brew. the second pot; i just add one more scoop to the pot and add more water.. just one of those days./..
  9:58am
Cecile:

morning all.
Only 8 days until I get my furnace fixed.
yay.

Annie, have some of that poor man's Ritalin for me, too. I am draggin this AM
  10:00am
Cecile:

hey, do you have any Species Being? Some tracks from their 2nd disc might fit in well here.
  10:00am
DM:

jason!! was bummed the fresh & onlys weren't with thee oh sees here in DC last night, so i'm glad you're getting me a fix sometime soon.
  10:00am
dc pat:

they're definitely high up but that would mean you have further to fall too. Whatever the reason, it's pretty freakin cool.
  10:03am
postmanpaul:

hi jason and posters! yeah dc pat, those double deckered bikes are going some over here in brighton uk too, amazing sight.
was down in dorset at the square and compass pub last weekend [www.squareandcompasspub.co.uk} for their beer and pumpkin fest, monsters weighing in at 360 pounds. the landlord informed me that last year they weighed in a 860 pounder!!!
  10:06am
Cecile:

HI, pmp!
Wow, that's a lot of pie! nom nom nom
I roasted a 10 pounder for pies next month. Great smell.

What do they do with the big pumpkins? Carve 'em, eat em? chop em up for pig feed?
  10:07am
dc pat:

if you Englishers build a bigger pumpkin than us, it's going to be war...

Speakin of which, anybody able to watch that US/Honduras soccer match? We're in baby!!
  10:07am
Chris:

The Washington Post has great pictures of a 650 lb pumpkin being dropped on an old junked car and exploding. Have to see if there's video.
  10:08am
Cecile:

no.
I'm still grooving off the fact the town is in a good mood with the Vikings being 5-0.

I keep asking people "how does it feel having a real quarterback" and have not been punched in the face once. ;D
  10:09am
croptkin:

You started it, with your big apple
  10:10am
esch oder anarchie!:

As far as I'm aware they didn't show US-Honduras -- not as timely as bowling reruns. BTW, excellent that the 'FMU playlist has devolved into sport. So ... any guess on when Messi finally puts one on for the big A?
  10:11am
dc pat:

I heard they were charging $25 a pop to see it at some bars. Great way to encourage the sport over here...
  10:13am
dc pat:

as long as the US doesn't have to deal with them in a play off, 'tis all I care about.
  10:14am
Chris:

These guys are good. This would have sounded great on the bill with Human Eye and TV Ghost the other night in DC.
  10:15am
jason:

hey chris, i think they're playing with both TV Ghost and Human Eye over the course of their tour actually
  10:17am
BSI:

...just now joining the party.
This sounds like just the right blend of caffeine and extreme violence... diggit.
  10:17am
Chris:

Here we got Wizzard Sleeve, and all three bands opened for Kohoutek.
  10:18am
postmanpaul:

dc, we stuff 'em with badly behaved children and bake 'em.
  10:19am
BSI:

Chris: I seriously needed to be there but couldn't make it. Must have the new Kohoutek LP.
  10:21am
david:

that whole show at the velvet was very good, but tv ghost was silly fantastic.
  10:22am
Cecile:

that was my question, but awesome, pmp!
Do you call it the Swiftian Special?
  10:22am
Chris:

BSI, it will knock you out. Worth staying out to insane o'clock to see Kohoutek too. And dang it, I didn't realize Static Static were at Galaxy Hut last night? Drat!
  10:22am
jason:

speaking of tv ghost, they're live on brian turner's show this afternoon!
  10:27am
postmanpaul:

hi cecile! yeah, those big 'uns sure make them kids behave!
  10:29am
dc pat:

gawd, wish I'd been there to see TVGhost...lucky I got out last night...
  10:30am
Cecile:

I'll bet there's a whole generation of kids who have bad dreams about gardens!

too many good bands, so little time.
  10:31am
dc pat:

that's got to be a Farfeesa organ-I was in a band with one of those and it always whined between songs...
  10:34am
BSI:

Got my prog fix in baltimore on saturday, Mahogany Frog had a lovely Farfisa, which behaved itself rather well...
  10:37am
Cecile:

What a nice bunch of kids!
I understand about the NO thing. There are some hella good avant garde players down there.
  10:40am
GP:

Sneaking in the side door..nods to Jason...takes seat.
  10:47am
Raf:

Hey Jason, good to be tuning in for the first time in a while. Looking forward to the Fresh and Onlys!
  10:48am
GP:

This I Scream is intriguing. Amazing what kind of sound they were getting back then and it is recorded rather nicely.
I'd love to know how they did their sounds....the research stats now.
  10:49am
jason:

heya raf! hey GP I see you
  10:56am
?:

Ha ha, I can just see them sitting around totally baked thinking up a name for the band.."whoa, check this out..Wizzard Sleeve...yea man, with TWO z's".

<spit take...hear several WTF's in background. Fade out over hysterical giggling)

But what a great song.
  10:57am
dc pat:

freakin killer show, jason...
  10:59am
jason:

thanks pat! dc represent!
  11:06am
david:

spider bags! how awesome is the new album? this duet's a killer, but that first song gets me every time, man.
  11:08am
Parq:

Enjoying the show while I plow through a major workload.
  11:13am
jason:

yeah david thanks for the tip on spider bags!
  11:28am
GP:

Cool band. Helping me get my work done.
Thanks Fresh and Onlys.
  11:29am
Ike:

Jason! You can't pronounce "Bene Gesserit?!" Does that mean you've never watched the wonderful mess that is David Lynch's version of Dune?! Ha ha ha. Anyway, good live band here.
  11:30am
Chris:

What a glorious trainwreck that version of Dune is.
  11:34am
Carmichael:

Good morning everyone. Killer storm, power out, everything wet.
  11:36am
Carmichael:

Cecile, I made the chicke tacos this weekend, and realized I forgot to mention: add salsa. A big jar of mild salsa.
  11:39am
Cecile:

Oh, got it. Good to know.

I made a variation. I took 1/2 a potroast, a can of diced tomatoes and a good amount of ground chipotle, garlic and salt and pepper. Then I made refried black beans and we had tacos. Sooooo goood.
  11:41am
Carmichael:

Perfect! Can't have tacos without rice and beans.
  11:41am
SmokinJ:

These guys rock for keeping that old Tascam R-R alive!
  11:43am
Cecile:

Any friend of Kelly Stoltz is a friend of mine!
  11:54am
Chris:

Seriously great show today.
  11:57am
Carmichael:

Thanks, Jason!
  11:59am
Bad Ronald:

great show, thanks
