Ol' Doug over there looks like he might get some biggish hair on a humid day.
  9:16am
postmanpaul:

I'd say Doug has done big hair in the past, and other stuff too.
  9:19am

  10:06am
Cecile:

  10:12am
efd:

Listening online at work - sounding great, Billy, and kudos to Jeff for holding it down back at the WFMU Broadcast Centre.
  10:17am
postmanpaul:

Sounding great here in Brighton UK too, Billy. When you coming to this neck of the woods Billy!
  10:18am
jeff-m:

thanks Evan Morning to you.

Was just going to say that sounds like the Bay of Fundy
  10:19am
Cecile:

Great. We just get zebra mussels in the US.
  10:19am
Jenniqua:

I am a sea lover as well. Grew up on the Pacific in California, but have been to the Bay of Fundy. Would love to come visit Olde Jersey.
  10:29am
Cecile:

Quick and the Dead. Love it, even the little flat bit. Great stuff.
  10:31am
Jenniqua:

There was an electronics store back in the '90s in NYC called Nobody Beats the Wiz. I think that store even did a song for the NY Knicks basketball cheerleader team, singing GO NEW YORK GO NEW YORK GP NEW YORK GO!
  10:31am
Cheri PI:

I gre up in Japan and then lived in Seattle. I now live in Ohio-not having an ocean a stones throw is possibly the saddest thing I've endured.
  10:32am
Cecile:

Wasn't the phrase "the Wiz" sampled in some rap song?
  10:34am
Mike East:

Billy Jam in the AM?! For a minute I thought I was really late to work. Great pics!
  10:35am
Jenniqua:

Cecile - yeah. It was in a song called Nobody Beats the Biz, as in Biz Markie.
  10:38am
Cecile:

That's right!
  10:39am
thuggyBear:

the idea behind this song deserves better.
  10:48am
Cecile:

Nice! I thougth Isaac was great last year.
  10:49am
postmanpaul:

I like what you're doing there Billy, a really nice vibe coming over.
  10:50am
Cheri PI:

YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!
  10:50am
Cecile:

Wizz! You're putting your foot in it!
  10:50am
Jenniqua:

I think I need a photo of these guys.
  10:52am
postmanpaul:

Is that as in 'breaking a leg'?! Cecile
  10:56am
jeff-m:

got it :)
  10:56am
Cecile:

It means, "well done!" It's African-American slang I picked up at work. It's from kicking an American football field goal, I think.
  10:58am
Cecile:

I just love the image.
  10:59am
jeff-m:

The Wiz wa sa Michael Jackson movie too. Sort of a Wizard of Oz if remember correctly
  11:00am
Cecile:

Yes! I am hearing that the NZ Film Board is going through similar struggles with commerciality/art.
  11:02am
Jenniqua:

Jeff - m: yes the Wiz was a african-american movie version of the Wizard of Oz. Michael Jackson played the scarecrow and his nose was a Reese's Peanut Butter cup. That I remember most of all as a kid watching it.
  11:07am
jeff-m:

ok, wasn't sure if it was an exact version or was sort of a take off of it. Had a girlfriend who adored that movie, but don;t remember it much myself
  11:10am
Parq:

Jeff, the movie was an adaptation of a Broadway show, which updated the original story for what was then known as an "all-Black cast". The song "Ease On Down the Road" was the big hit from the show.
  11:15am
Emile:

That movie made a huge impression on me when I was a kid. Whatever your take on the movie today (and I still think its totally cool), I think socially it was huge to see this movie reinterpreted by black folk. Quincy Jones was in control of much of it, I think. A very nice surreal streak, too. Check it out!
  11:16am
Cecile:

there was some controversy because the dynamic Stephanie Mills was replaced by Diana Ross in the movie.
  11:17am
postmanpaul:

NO DEPT in Jersey!!! Is there a US Government Accountability Office definition for that?!
  11:17am
Cecile:

My favorite song was the Wicked Witch's: "Don't Nobody Bring Me No Bad News."
  11:18am
jeff-m:

hey , you have to bring him up some
  11:18am
postmanpaul:

...debt, of course.
  11:19am
Parq:

There was also a US miniseries "Tin Man", a steam-punky sci fi thing loosely adapted from the W of Oz. The title referred to the nickname that interspace marshals had, a riff on their badges.
  11:19am
jeff-m:

never misunderstood that that was still bed msuic
  11:20am

  11:45am
Cecile:

I think me and CheriPi might want to fight you for that, J.
  11:45am
Aaron:

  11:46am
Parq:

Ain't it the truth, Ms. Pi! I was just thinking how spoiled long-time FMU listeners are -- we are actually *accustomed* to programming like this.
  11:47am
postmanpaul:

  11:47am

  11:56am

Yes Cecile-the fight is on! I'm gonna wear my crazy tight jeans!!
  11:57am
Cecile:

I'll raise your my neon pink skinny jeans! It's on like Donkey Kong!
  11:58am
postmanpaul:

  11:59am
