Billy Jam:

Welcome to another edition of "Put The Needle On The Record" - the weekly radio program that is hip-hop and rap based but can veer off into other areas (so long as it ain't crap). Today's guests will include Saigon - the longtime BK emcee who recently got his big break after appearing on the HBO series Entourage (he is on the road and will phone in at approx 330pm EST), and Talib Kweli who this week released his digital only album Gutter Rainbows which we will be hearing some tracks from today. The interview was recorded at a club in NYC a month ago -right before Christmas - when he had the record release party for this album. I talk with him about various things including Barack Obama since Talib was one of the most vocal supporters of Obama during the election. Note that this is the last in-studio show for four weeks. Next week is the big DJ special WFMU remote from the Oakland Museum of CA. Two weeks is live from the Oaksterdam Gift Shop. More details to follow here in comments and on the mic later today.

Billy's Helper Pedro:

Thanks to Bryce for posing for the top WFMU sticker photo. Thanks to Ericka K in NJ for sending in the second WFMU sticker down - the one of the back of a Trailblaxer. The photo below the playlist song data is from Mike East (on the West Side) in NYC who writes, "Here's a picture of the fridge in my office on W 55th st. I have a great view across the Hudson from here.Your show is always on as the sun goes down bringing my week to a close. Thanks for bringing the jams! ps - let me know if you ever need any gear rentals or studio space" - Thanks Mike! Below his pic is one from Jay at Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre in NYC where WFMU's "Seven Second Delay" with Ken and Andy is broadcast two Wednesdays a month. The lower pic of mixer and records is by Billy Jam from his NYC home record collection. If you would like to have your WFMU sticker pic included here then email your DJ ("billyjam@wfmu.org") your snail mailing address and he will send you out a sticker for you to take pics of anyhow you see fit, and send back to your DJ via email or Facebook for future publication on a WFMU playlist. Thanks for listening and for giving a damn.

ben drinken:

The interesting thing about these riots in Egypt and North Africa in general is that these are Arabs and mostly Muslim and do not drink. In America and UK, other places people would need to get boozed up to get to the point of having the guts to riot.
  4:44pm
CheriPi:

Great show today Billy Jam-Radio Hall of Famer in the making.
  4:46pm
Ike:

Ben, as some commenter on the NYT site pointed out, if you have to bribe 10 diff. people to get a driver's license then you get pretty mad, probably mad enough to riot without drinking.

That's a very heavy thought, so to lighten the mood, I just want to add: BOOBS.
  5:00pm
Bad Ronald:

Hey all, happy Friday. Boobs indeed!
