Listener comments!

  11:57am
Amanda:

Listen here!

http://www.wfmu.org/wfmu_drummer.pls

(If you click on the links to the left, you will hear WFMU's main air signal, which is also very good -- you just won't hear Nazario Scenario.)
  11:58am
artie:

We will perform minimal cruelty. (Until we know you better.) Welcome!
  11:59am
Amanda:

Thank you, Artie! I fully expect the cruelty along with the kindness, so do your worst.
  12:01pm
Drummer Some:

Hello cool Amanda!
  12:01pm
efd:

Nice opening choice!
  12:02pm
Amanda:

Hello Doug and Evan, antitheses of cruel.
  12:02pm
Skirkie:

Well what have we here?
  12:02pm
anne:

yo yo hello it's amanda "the scenario" nazario!!
  12:03pm
Amanda:

Skirkie knows about this now?!?!? (hides beneath desk)

ANNE!!!!! I welcome you to this madness
  12:04pm
alex goldstein:

hey amanda! great opening! mekons rule! i gotta jump on the bus, but i'll be listening in a few!
  12:04pm
efd:

Doug, I'm going to the Mets game tomorrow night. I'll give them your regards.
  12:06pm
Drummer Some:

Finally we have a WFMU DJ who can throw around words like "antitheses"!

I will always love the Mets, Evan. Especially now that I'm, um, a "Pirates fan."
  12:07pm
jesse:

welcome to my computer speakers, Amanda
  12:07pm
efd:

If I were as brave as Amanda I'd sing along to "Thirteen Women" on my show.

Doug, at least you've got a great park to go to. I went out to Pittsburgh last summer for a couple of games and was instantly charmed. Plus the Pirates have some exciting young players.
  12:07pm
Skirkie:

This is perfect, seeing as how I get grumpy when Ken doesn't show up.
  12:07pm
Amanda:

Hi Alex! You may miss Harpoon Forever, but I know you'll catch yourself on the archive later. Happy bussing.
  12:11pm
Amanda:

And hell-low Jesse :-)

EFD, if I were as brave as you I'd play Train in Vain twice and not sing along to it at all.
  12:11pm
ndbob:

Hello Amanda!
  12:12pm
Turntable:

and once backwards
  12:14pm
Carmichael:

Wait, what's this here? <click> Hmmmm ....
  12:14pm
Drummer Some:

I've just searched the entire WFMU website and the phrase "SUNG ALONG TO" has never appeared on it before today. Amanda the innovator!
  12:17pm
Skirkie:

What's this "buffering" baloney?
  12:17pm
Amanda:

Hi ndbob and Carmichael -- you are both Give The Drummer Some fans, I think? Get ready for something extremely different from that but still hopefully enjoyable... :-)
  12:19pm
Drummer Some:

Skirkie, are you having buffering issues with the stream? Is anyone else? My audio has run without interruption...
  12:19pm
Carmichael:

Yes Amanda, I am given some Drummer on a weekly basis. You played the Clash, so I like you already.
  12:20pm
artie:

Amanda filled my buffers with Dirty Water.
  12:21pm
ndbob:

Great start Amanda!
  12:22pm
Carmichael:

My 20k is AOK.
  12:22pm
Elias:

Amanda, you are on the air for a one-block radius in an undisclosed location in Queens. Now I can go outside with my radio.
  12:23pm
monica:

hi there, amanda! sounding great, lady. terrif singing on the clash track.
  12:24pm
Skirkie:

Buffering issues abound. I've tried kicking the computer. I'm out of ideas.
  12:24pm
seang:

wow, haven't heard this in a while
  12:25pm
Amanda:

Hahaha, thank you so much Monica! Very flattered to hear this coming from someone with a lovely voice and such good taste in (non-singalong) vocals.
  12:27pm
Drummer Some:

Skirkie, try using this URL to listen:

http://motherlode.wfmu.org:443/listen.pls
  12:31pm
Carmichael:

Skirk, the Flash Beta is the usual go-to answer. What stream are you currently using?
  12:33pm
Skirkie:

This is clearly just my network, it likes to take breaks sometimes.
  12:34pm
Carmichael:

For a singer who can't follow the song, he's oddly melodic.
  12:35pm
Gene:

Amanda, super show! What's your sign-off going to be?
  12:36pm
ndbob:

I need to go - looking forward to hearing more Amanda!
  12:37pm
Amanda:

Gene! So glad you are listening. You should know by now that I will not give away such information prematurely.

Bye ndbob!
  12:38pm
Ike:

No stream problems here.

@Carmichael, ummmm... whatchoo talkin' 'bout?!? There's no 20K and no Flash beta on this side unless I'm terribly mistaken.
  12:38pm
Danne D:

Hi Amanda :) Finally got my lazy ass to download what I needed to to get the web streaming to work on this particular computer
  12:39pm
Danne D:

(if you download the free itunes player you can get this stream btw if you have a 64-bit win7 machine like me)
  12:40pm
Fiveash:

Amanda: I am listening to your show instead of going outside to buy insoles for the sneakers I got in Atlantic City. Evan: I call dibs to play on "13 Women" when you sing it with the Hoof & Mouth next year.
  12:42pm
Danne D:

Gonna be tough to cull the list of women that wanna be on stage with Evan to just 13...
  12:43pm
Ike:

@Danne: YUCK, iTunes for PC blows goats. Total resource hog. I much prefer Winamp or Foobar2000. Foobar is tiny and nimble.
  12:43pm
Amanda:

Nazario Scenario, injuring men's feet since 2011.
  12:44pm
Drummer Some:

Amanda, this sounds like it could be you singing.
  12:45pm
efd:

Come on Danne, it was all I could do to scare up four this year.

Matt, duly noted. Ideally it would be followed by Joe Belock singing it too, but I doubt that will happen.
  12:45pm
Amanda:

Danne -- Please feel free to provide gambling tips for the next Atlantic City trip. I say this because of the losing that happened.

Gosh, Doug, now we are ALL full of Hoof and Mouth ideas!
  12:46pm
Carmichael:

Ike, I am sadly befuddled, Luddite-like, by you kids and your technology. The feeds are listed across Amanda's page, but alas, they are for the "main" show. So please write my previous comment out of the history books.
  12:52pm
Danne D:

Ike, if there's something that works better - tell me how to do it, this was the first thing I could figure out that actually made the stream work which is all i care about at this point while amanda is on.

Aw, man Amanda, I hope I didn't steer you into losses on your gambling trip :( I may be going on, um, Good Friday like any good Catholic. Schleger is the expert though ;) but I'll surely offer any advice you might want anyhow.

EFD - you don't scare any women :) I guarantee a full stage of 13+ women if you do that song. You might even have to change the lyrics to 30 women.

As a total sidenote, Fiveash can make literally any singer sound good - I should know.
  12:55pm
Amanda:

Note: I did not make it up to the Harpoon Forever show due to nasty weather, and I missed most of Lame Drivers' set also. FML.
  12:55pm
Drummer Some:

Danne D — and everyone — WFMU has a crew of trained hairless mole rats locked in a room for the specific purpose of helping with streaming audio problems. Go here:

http://wfmu.org/ssaudionet.shtml
  12:59pm
Danne D:

I know - I'm just too feeble-minded to have been able to figure it out :( will deal with it later as any hogging of resources is not impeding my ability to do my work while I listen right now :)

Thanks Doug :)
  1:00pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings to Amanda and all the listeners.
  1:01pm
Amanda:

Lovely to hear from you, Richard. Hope you like.
  1:02pm
Ike:

@Danne, hey, if iTunes for PC treats you better than it treats me, then ya might as well stick with it at this point.
  1:05pm
efd:

Leave it to PWEI to cover Sigue Sigue Sputnik. I liked that!
  1:06pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Clint mansell!!
  1:07pm
Carmichael:

Ola, Ricardo!
  1:08pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Hola Carmichael.

By the way, the stream sound awesome.
  1:09pm
Danne D:

lol Thanks Ike :) whatever gives me the Amanda stream :) Though it's funny that I'd be any sort of apple proponent even in this odd instance

Amanda, this show is awesome :)

EFD, looking forward to your show as well of course :)

Hi to all the web peoples such as Carmichael and Richard btw.
  1:11pm
Danne D:

This reminds me a bit of an old Wendy James album
  1:11pm
Amanda:

Heh, EFD, thought you might enjoy that Sigue Sigue Sputnik cover. Playing it softens the blow of having had my other PWEI album snapped in half when I moved from my old apartment.
  1:13pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Request: Don't ask by Blood Red Shoes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QE5AB0mHnSk

It will be perfect for this show.
  1:14pm
Carmichael:

Burton Avarre (sp) could really rip out a good lead.
  1:14pm
Amanda:

Richard -- duly noted for next time; I like Blood Red Shoes. Thank you for your kind attention!
  1:15pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Glad you like it Amanda.
  1:16pm
Amanda:

Carmechaiel, you are right!
  1:20pm
efd:

haha, I believe you won those tickets on my show! I remember you telling me this, right?
  1:20pm
Drummer Some:

Did you say Pennsylvania? I still can't freaking believe I live there. In Pennsylvania.
  1:20pm
glenn:

are you 33 1/3?
  1:23pm
Danne D:

Notice how tons of people have found out and made their way to this secret show ;)
  1:23pm
Amanda:

Evan -- yes, come to think of it it WAS a Midnight Ticket Oasis snafu!

Doug -- None of us can quite believe it, which is why we keep saying "Doug" and "Pittsburgh" together over and over...

Glenn -- I will be 33 1/3 in 3 weeks. That's actually a true statement.
  1:25pm
glenn:

unfortunately, the next album speed age i have to look forward to is 78.
  1:25pm
Elias:

Aha! Selection N3, flip side P3 "The Savage Beat" on the jukebox repaired during Doug's show yesterday. I knew I needn't turn it on today!
  1:26pm
Drummer Some:

Glad to see you're up off the floor, Elias. Have a beer.
  1:30pm
Danne D:

Can't imagine Amanda getting any groovier, even at 33 1/3 :)
  1:30pm
Elias:

Who am I to refuse advice from Doug! Done.
  1:30pm
Amanda:

Do any of you know about the zine Bucketfull of Brains? http://www.bucketfullofbrains.com/

I totally thought they were not in existence anymore, but here I see that they're very much still going. There is no date on the record that I have.
  1:32pm
zombie:

brains? where?
  1:36pm
glenn:

moby grape's wow l.p. has one track on it that's @ 78. ah, skip spence. briilliant and crazy. and canadian.
  1:38pm
Gaylord Fields:

Since 2011, my foot (literally)! Isn't that how we met, as a result of you treading on my tootsies? We have our very own "meet cute"!
  1:39pm
Carmichael:

Amanda, the info I can find is that Noose Around my Neck was the B side of the Flamin' Groovies' Step Up (live), issued by Bucketfull in 1989. The record says "Issue 31".
  1:41pm
Dan B From Upstate:

I'd love to be listening to this right now, but I'm at work, and I can't listen to the Drummer Some stream. I hope you guys get working on a flash player version of the alternate streams so us workers can listen!

Also, it's getting to the point that the drummer some stream might need a schedule of it's own!
  1:42pm
Alexander Goldstein:

heard the dictators track while i was streaming the show on my ipod! awesome!
  1:43pm
Amanda:

Gaylord -- in your case it was since years before that! I am clumsy enough to step on a lot of feet, it seems. I am so very happy you tuned in, friend!!!

Carmichael -- thanks a ton for the info. I would have guessed a few years earlier than that (and I think I did, as we'll hear in a few minutes during the mic break). The more you know. :-)
  1:43pm
Carmichael:

Denver Mexicans link: http://www.45cat.com/record/bob25
  1:44pm
Drummer Some:

Dan B from Upstate,
You're not the first to suggest flash players for the alt streams. I will relay your request to the FMU Power Authority.
  1:45pm
Dan B From Upstate:

Thank you very much, Doug! I appreciate it!
  1:47pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey Amanda! Sorry I'm late for the party -- looks like the joint is hopping!
  1:48pm
Amanda:

Hey Tony! Thrilled to have you aboard, and don't worry -- next week will wipe the floor with this week.
  1:48pm
Gaylord Fields:

I'm so chuffed to be allowed to hear your sensational secret show. I can't wait for you to go official! The (relative to WFMU) masses need to be Scenario-ized PDQ.
  1:52pm
efd:

I am anticipating a lot of post-2pm lunches on Wednesdays from this point forward. Stellar show, Amanda! (to the surprise of no one who knows you and/or has heard you on the air before)
p.s. Hi Gaylord!
  1:54pm
Amanda:

We'll all have lunch at 2:15 PM together, metaphorically speaking. While watching the metaphoric Mets game.
  1:55pm
Drummer Some:

Coming up on GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO following the fabulous Nazario Scenario will be, in this order: Cherri Lynn, Saunders King, Ernest Wilson, Creation Rockers, Armando Sciascia, Los Strwck, Cicada, Jerry Adams, Jean Shepard, Marty Licklider's Missouri Fox Hunters, Alvarius B., Hot Butter's Song, and on and on. And on.

So you see, there is no reason to go anywhere else. (Unless you want to.)
  1:56pm
Gaylord Fields:

Hiya, efd! And funny you should say that, as i've been holding off on treating myself to a lunchtime burrito until Amanda's conclusion. The Nazario Scenario: Starve Yourself Radio!
  1:57pm
Carmichael:

Amanda, very nice to meet you and a wonderful few hours of music. I'll be back if you will. Thanks!
  1:57pm
rst-wiley:

Late to the shoow. Glad for archives.

Is this going to be weekly or on the alternate?
  1:57pm
Danne D:

Amen to what Gaylord said re being Scenario-ized
And actually Amen to what EFD said as well.

Thanks for such a fantastic show Amanda :) This was totally worth putting off my lunch for :) I typed that lunch bit right before Gaylord's most immediate post btw.
  1:57pm
rst-wiley:

Oh -- I'm seeing 'weekly' in the comments. Good thing, too.
  1:58pm
Danne D:

Nazario Scenario - your new weight loss plan!
  1:58pm
Amanda:

rst-wiley -- yep, it is a weekly show. Tune in next Wednesday at noon! Thanks for the check-in.

Thank you sew much everyone! I had the BEST TIME.
  2:00pm
Drummer Some:

Who gets to crack the champagne over you next week, Amanda?
  2:01pm
Amanda:

Let's talk about organizing a raffle for that.
  2:02pm
Danne D:

Take care everyone :)
  2:02pm
Alexander Goldstein:

awesome show!
  10:03pm
charlie:

Sorry I missed the show, Amanda. Listening to the archive. Sounds great, damned good, darn tootin' -- loove the singing. Here's to a great "real" debut!
