Listener comments!

  12:04am
G:

I'm here makin' the scenario!
  12:07am
Amanda:

What's up, G! Nice to see you!
  12:10am
G:

I've heard your show on the Drummer stream, checking you out on the air this time...
  12:12am
tomB:

My parents said if I took a nap from 9-12, I could get up & listen to your show.
  12:17am
Amanda:

G, that's great to hear. Does it sound any different now? (heh)

tomB -- Your parents are stern but fair.
  12:19am
tomB:

speaking of "pub rock suitable for brawling", in all my yrs. of rock concert attendance, last night was the first in which I witnessed a brawl! Provoked by the hidden subtext of NYC girl groups, no doubt.
  12:26am
G:

It's a little airier :-P
  12:26am
Parq:

Nice to find you on n the air, Miz Naz. Nice, also, to have the day off tomorrow so I can hang in and listen for a while.
  12:28am
Parq:

Nice, finally, to see you at the Coney meet up.
  12:29am
Chop Scott:

Amanda!

If you want another mid 80's Boston blast--do you know the Turbines?
"Wha Hey" a great rave up capsule of that time there. Never one to request, but think you'd enjoy!
  12:41am
Amanda:

Chop Scott -- no doubt I would! I don't have the wherewithal to look now, but I am noting the suiggestion for later. Thanks much.

Hi, Parq! It was nice to see you in person, and wonderful to see you here of course. :-)
  12:53am
Fiveash:

Hi! Still up and listening now! I remember the Turbines. I was too young to get past the Calvinist booze laws of Greater Boston and see them live. But I remember them getting play on WBCN, the commercial rock station, back when radio had some local character.
Saltalamacchia!
  12:59am
Amanda:

Eh! Saltalamacchia, he make a home run! Wonder how many other Sawx fans are out there now. Hi Matt.
  1:10am
Fiveash:

Saltalamacchia, he get a walk, he getta four balls!
  1:11am
bill sullivan:

killing it ! great stuff - whats the story with that Shins version , I missed the back announce - but loved it , and like to hear it again - - great set !
  1:15am
Amanda:

Welcome, Bill! So happy you are enjoying the show. That Shins was just the regular track with me singing along to it.
  1:19am
Amanda:

Just got a sufficiently heartwarming phone call from a listener who doesn't want to leave his car to go into his house, because he's having fun. It's stuff like that that gets me up in the... midnight.
  1:20am
Parq:

Thinking about a compilation tape a Boston friend made for me in the late 80s (nearly a decade after my own departure) brings to mind "Lunch With Ed", a Beastie-Boyish rave up by Dogzilla -- or, as I understand I now have to call them, "Dogzilla (Boston)". It was a great little nugget, but it apparently never made a nationwide impression.
  1:24am
Amanda:

Nice, Parq!

I should stress at this time that I'm from New York, though I've always had a peculiar affinity for MA's music and people.
  1:26am
Fiveash:

But you told me yourself that you hate us and our stupid music!
  1:27am
Fiveash:

Nice save, by the way.
  1:29am
Parq:

I will add, in case in matters, that I'm from New Jersey, and merely lived in Boston off and on for some years while college-age. And with that, I'll shut up for the night.
  1:37am
mchuge:

Hi Amanda! I just watched "Let Me In" and they used "Doot Doot" by Fleur and some Greg Kihn. I couldn't believe it. Just roundabout suggestions. Sounds great!
  1:38am
david:

aww man, this cyndi lauper song of prince's(?) takes me back to a special moment... what's the deal, this song is about a woman with a homosexual male lover? also: is "she's so unusual" a concept album?
  1:42am
david:

update: looks like it's just a gender pronoun thing.
  1:44am
Amanda:

Hey mchuge! Great to see you here. Congrats on your photo show.

David, it might be -- Lauper always has such a specific aesthetic in mind, you know? Anyway, it is the release with the mega hits on it, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun etc. I love when artists of the opposite gender cover songs and don't switch the lyrics.

Parq: It's ok, you can keep commenting! I don't care where you are from!

Fiveash: No, I said I hate YOU and all YOUR music that you have in your house.
  1:58am
Fiveash:

Duly noted, thanks for the clarification.
Sony, or whatever they called themselves at the time, put out a comp CD called "Can't Help Lovin' That Man", popular male crooners of the 20's and 30's singing gender-unchanged lyrics. You'd like it, it is really gay.
  2:14am
Amanda:

I think I have seen that comp! I'm excited to hear it. Now please stop abusing me and offending everyone.
  3:03am
pfapfap:

Very enjoyable show. Thank you!
  3:52am
Amanda:

Thanks, pfapfap! Fun times were had. Much gratitude and love to everyone who listened... have a great night!
  7:47pm
Joe's Taco Truck:

You have a pleasant singing voice Amanda! Next year's Hoof and Mouth Sinfonia has your name on it, I think. ;p
