Listener comments!

  11:52am
Brian in UK:

Hello...... anyone there. Can I come out from under the table?
  11:53am
Amanda:

Come on out, Brian -- that bad man is gone now.
  11:58am
Brian in UK:

The way I hoid it, twas a woman. Sumting like Marlene.
  11:59am
Skirkie:

Oh, you're back. You didn't miss much.
  12:02pm
Doug S.:

What a well-house-trained audience you have, Amanda!
  12:02pm
Lizardner Dave:

Welcome back!
  12:03pm
Amanda:

Hi, Doug! I know, they came from the shelter already socialized. Skirkie -- I understand I missed a big tornado? Do I have that right?

Hey Lizardner Dave!
  12:04pm
Brian in UK:

Can you remind me when singles week begins?
  12:05pm
Brian in UK:

Or to put it another way. How long will singles week last this year?
  12:08pm
Doug S.:

Seven days without prayer makes one week.
  12:10pm
Amanda:

I am pretty sure that Singles Going Steady week is right before the record fair, so it will be in October, but not sure exactly what week.
  12:10pm
Van in Dallas:

Just quickly popping in to say hi and welcome back to Amanda, and hi listeners!
  12:11pm
Artie:

Make my Singles Week Special a double.
  12:11pm
efd:

The Record Fair is Oct 28-30, so Singles Going Steady Week will most likely start on the 23rd or thereabouts.
  12:11pm
efd:

p.s. - hi Amanda, and welcome back!
  12:13pm
Amanda:

Hi, efd, and thank you!

Hi very much to Van and Artie, too!
  12:14pm
Brian in UK:

Thanks efd, the voice of .......... in a troubled world.
  12:17pm
Lizardner Dave:

I am generally allergic to karaoke...except for this show. It works here.
  12:21pm
glenn:

i was feeling single, and seeing double - george jones.
  12:22pm
Carmichael:

Yikes, I'm always scrambling to find this show. Hi Amanda!
  12:29pm
Skirkie:

Someone told you about the earthquake though right?
  12:38pm
Brian in UK:

Marine Girls!
  12:39pm
Brian in UK:

How's it going Carmichael. Back to mid season form?
  12:41pm
Carmichael:

He he ... back to normal, whatever that may be. Physical therapy hurts so wonderfully.

Thanks for asking!
  12:44pm
Amanda:

@Skirkie -- Yep, I heard about the earthquake but was only dimly aware of it, the way you kind of know about things far away when you are on vacation.

@Carmichael -- Hooray!!! Welcome back!!!
  12:49pm
Doug S.:

I miss Maine. Really badly miss it.
  12:51pm
Carmichael:

@Amanda: I was on the mend after shoulder surgery and whacked out on drugs, wondering what I missed on your show. Then I get back to find you were on vacation anyway. Funney how things work. Glad you enjoyed yourself.
  1:04pm
Amanda:

Ha -- yes, funny indeed! I knew you were recovering, and you were definitely missed here. Hope you can make good recreational use of those drugs now that you're better.
  1:14pm
Carmichael:

I'll try my hardest. :-)
  1:16pm
Amanda:

FYI: Funky days are back again
  1:24pm
Lizardner Dave:

"All dressed" is a way Canadians have their hot dogs and I'm pretty sure the chips are supposed to replicate that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_hot_dog
  1:24pm
Doug S.:

In the South, having a Po' Boy "dressed" means having it with lettuce, tomato and mayo (and some places, onions and pickles).
  1:27pm
Carmichael:

The Turtles are awesome. I think I have every 45 they ever released.
  1:28pm
Amanda:

I think LD has hit the nail on the head.

I agree, Carmichael! But I'm sorry for the bad quality of that 45 I played :-)
  1:32pm
Lizardner Dave:

Worst chips I ever had: Lay's Roast Chicken and Gravy flavor. Tasted like somebody took a bag of powdered gravy mix and dumped in the bag of chips. Had them in New Brunswick (Canada, not NJ), funnily enough

Also had Ruffles Jamon Iberico flavored chips in Barcelona. Interesting. Not great, but interesting.

All time fave is still Wise barbecue (the red bag, not that honey bbq crap). Though pretty much any kettle cooked chip is OK with me. Goose Island brewpub across the street from Wrigley Field in Chicago makes great chips right on the premises (or crisps if you're British).
  1:33pm
Fiveash:

I don't know what it is about Humpty Dumpty chips that they don't make you sick to your stomach when you eat a giant bag of them by yourself! Extra MSG maybe? Also, the Turtles record reminds me that you stole all the 45s that I got at the Searsport flea market. At least I hope you did, because I can't find 'em here...
  1:36pm
Carmichael:

I recently found box after box of 45s while going through a closet in a spare bedroom. Henry Weinhard 12pack boxes full of magical vinyl. I'm still going through them. And hey, Amanda, the scratchier the better, as far as I'm concerned.
  1:37pm
Lizardner Dave:

This isn't the song where Keith Emerson stabs the organ to death...
  1:39pm
ndbob:

Hi Amanda and everyone!
  1:41pm
ndbob:

Yep - scratchy is good - brought back lots of scratchy 45s from my trip East.
  1:48pm
Amanda:

Hi ndbob! So glad to see you.
  1:53pm
BDR:

Why is effing Jack White on my radio?
  1:56pm
efd:

@BDR, I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's because he recorded a song that the DJ likes.
  1:57pm
Pianocide:

Nope, but that was the song where Jerry Lee Lewis stabs his keyboard to death.
  1:58pm
BDR:

Rest of show excellent! White Stripes bite.
  1:58pm
ndbob:

Thanks Amanda .. I'll catch what I missed on the archive.
  1:58pm
Carmichael:

Thanks yet again, Amanda. Have a great holiday weekend.
  2:00pm
Lizardner Dave:

This was fun. Thanks Amanda.
  2:01pm
Pianocide:

@BDR: Hipster sneer successful. @efd: Watch out when you whip out something as sharp as common sense, you might cut someone! @Amanda: Nice sets as always...
  2:01pm
Amanda:

Thanks, everyone! Lots and lots of love to all -- see you next week.
  2:02pm
Van in Dallas:

Rats. Just got back.
