I once saw the amazing Tenores di Bitti singing similar songs live, without really knowing what I was about to see/hear, and will never forget it.
Meanwhile, at much lower levels of mind-blowing...I've decided Float On should be included in the non-traditional campfire songs to be performed at an annual party next fall...if I can FORCE everyone to comply.

Tenores de Aterúe! Wow, what a great sound. They are singing in Italian, or is there a Sardinian dialect. I was tuned on to the Tenores de Onifrios years ago. They have a couple of great albums. I think the best example of what they do is "Ployphonic singing ffom Sardinia".
  9:52am

This is why I love music and FMU. ALways something new and interesting every day.

@Marm K@10:49, I've been to Bangkok and Bangkok is definitely not that pretty! Could it be Kuala Lumpur? It has an unreal sheen though... I like the Glowing One's suggestion from 10:32.

the city is Shenzen, China!
  11:43am
Marmalade Kitty:

Caryn: we were closest! ;)
  11:44am
Caryn:

Yay!
  11:46am
Ike:

Ah! Yeah, I was about to say the mountains seemed wrong for Bangkok. The old-style Chinese building w/the red roof in the park should have tipped me off.
  11:48am
G:

I didn't recognize it. Shenzen is the financial center (let's say the NYC) of Guangdong province, where everyone's i-thingies are made. It is mainland China's eventual would-be substitute for Hong Kong, which they didn't have control of till recent years, and the Chinese government still probably doesn't trust.

So the people in those skyscraper offices arrange all the commercial loans and contracts for Apple manufacturing, would be my guess. City populatiopn, over ten million (larger than the five boros of NYC).
  11:49am
Caryn:

Isn't Shenzen the place where they built the park with the replicas of world landmarks (Eiffel Tower, Collisseum etc.)?
  11:50am
Parq:

Well, I knew it wasn't Kuala Lampur because those twin towers are many meters apart and have a bridge at the middle. Now the question is, is it an accurate (if idealistic) portrayal of present-day Shenzen, or some crackpot visionary's idea of how the city would look if only we {insert grandiose scheme here}?

  11:53am
Caryn:

Well, most of those buildings are real (e.g. Google image search has that big tower from so many angles, it's there in reality). I do wonder if they've cleaned up the colours to make the place look less polluted.

  11:57am
still b/p:

Speaking of crackpotty...I looked at many other images of Asian skyscrapers & cities to see if I could ID that location and win the giant prize today. But I don't win the car, or the steak knives.
  11:58am
G:

It might actually look kinda new. The place was a fishing village till 1979, when the central govt choase it to be made a "special economic zone" -- so nothing you see is more than 20-30 years old, and most buildings are newer than that. It's now the largest commercial/port city in China, after Shanghai and Hong Kong.
  11:59am
Ike:

A Google image search reveals more pictures of Shenzhen that look a bit unreal. The greens are too intense. Over-gammaed, maybe. This is prob. more like it:

  12:00pm
Caryn:

@b/p: same here. Some nutty and some gorgeous designs for future houses. And some weird existing buildings too. I now want to visit a lot of places. Singapore Sky Park, anyone?
