  3:07pm
Nate in Detroit:

Woo! Jason's back! After all the Neil Young talk on Duane's show, I was thinking skipping out on Irwin and listening to the 3 Chord Monte episode where Joe played an hour straight of Neil's stage banter...but I think I'll stick around for Jason instead.
  3:08pm
Tom G:

I dig the new Neil more than I thought I would!
  3:10pm
Lazy Ed:

Part of me sort of loves the new Neil album, part of me sort of hates it, but by far the largest portion of my fractured psyche thinks it's sort of...weird.
  3:10pm
Tom G:

they took jason off because he is dangerous and unpredictable ... but he is crafty and sneaks back on like a ninja of the airwaves.
  3:13pm
Melody:

Hey, Nate, what's the date of that Three Chord Monte show?
  3:14pm

  3:15pm
Tom G:

Old-timer covers Oh Susannah, Tom Dooley, etc? Had the potential to be godawful but Neil handled it pretty well.

Hi Jason! You gotta check out the Paperhead this weekend. Thursday night at Death by Audio and Friday night at Cake Shop. Gonna be so rad. I caught them with Ty Segall in May and they were better than the record.

Hey Jason!

Nate in Detroit:

@Jason - Yeah, that 3CM show was hilarious, especially listening to it at the time, not knowing how long it would go on. On an unrelated note, I see that Lame Drivers are coming to Detroit in a couple weeks. I'll do my best to make the show! OmniCorp is an interesting venue, should be a fun time.
  3:30pm
Denise in DC:

Hey Jason -- haven't heard you before. Good show so far.

Jason, if you're sitting in for Irwin, you'll need to say something curmudgeonly every now and then.

Thanks to the FMA, it should stay that way! Kudos Jason over your many years of managing the FMA.
  4:36pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Jason: In fact, are you slated to host or be a guest on Radio Free Culture? Managing the FMA seems a good topic, right up the alley of that monthly show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm
jason:

Hey thanks Matt, I'm so exicted about Radio Free Culture! Benjamen Walker's hosting this month's and I'll be hosting August's.

Radio Free Culture is a new monthly program, and for those who missed Ken's interview with Brewster Kahle of the Internet Archive, here it is:

All right! Great to know Jason! And I agree: Radio Free Culture is a very WFMU-style foray into public affairs programming. Very encouraged by the episode last month.
  5:02pm
northguineahills:

Yes, Cecile, guizado is usually stew in Iberian language.
  5:02pm

Hi OD!
Comma, zero, comma, zero, backslash... :)
  5:45pm
other david:

Matt - stop, that's far too raunchy for this hour!
  5:46pm
Matt from Springfield:

Even more relevant, other david: are there any MORSE transmissions on shortwave you can listen to?
  5:48pm
other david:

Matt, yep - not as many as say 10+ years ago.. but off the top of my head, Russians, Cubans, French and Israeli's (diplomatic or military) still use morse to send coded messages - every day, some stations are on all day.

And of course there are the hams... "gm om, fb, ur 599, qsl?"
  5:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, still so much to analog radio -- well, like you said, if you ever find a spare shortwave transmitter, you can donate that to FMU, and listen without stream buffering and interruptions!
  5:52pm
Matt from Springfield:

Do you "ham" as well?
  5:54pm
Thomas:

Great to hear you on the air today Jason! It made driving around looking for parking really fun just now
  5:55pm
other david:

Not a ham... yet.. I think it would be worthwhile if I ever wound up being questioned about owning a shortwave transmitter!

There's a very interesting world of shortwave pirate dj's.. around 6.925mhz every night in the states, you'll hear mysterious folks spinning tracks - sometimes they get caught and named, most of the time you never find out who they were/are, or you find out only after their death.
