Avatar 12:14pm fleep:

We'll pass on that, thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Charlie:

Hi Pseu! Hey, where's the free lunch? I'm brown baggin' it here.
  12:23pm Listening Out There:

Eddie Harris lives!
Avatar 12:23pm Carmichael:

The 1st album is always the best (Wheatfield Soul). Aloha, Charlie. Taking it on the chin bright and early here at work. Would rather be doin' nothin', so here I am!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Charlie:

Hey Out There, and Carmichael. Yeah, I'm partial to early Guess Who.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm listener james from westwood:

the drummer stream's been key in exposing me to early works of more well-known bands. uncle michael's show has been a real gem in that respect!
Avatar 12:30pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Doug Schulkind:

@LJFW
Sorry about exposing you! Kenzo it hard at work on Give the Drummer Some's automatically downloadable Purell dispenser.
  12:36pm Listening Out There:

Where I'm at, in the Seattle area, "PLU" refers to nearby Pacific Lutheran University. On WFMU, it fortunately refers to something much more interesting!
Avatar 12:38pm Michael:

Kidz be rockin' it doncha think?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm holland oats:

holy shit did they nail those strings or what?!?
  12:39pm pseu:

Chizzy I'll save you a coagulated quesadilla here from work. We've had mad catering this week. Enjoying the show better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm pacific standard simon:

Prefer to the original (don't like Jeff Lynne's voice).
Avatar 12:40pm People Like Us:

yes, I used to have a PLU bag from the Pacific Lutheran University!

  12:44pm Listening Out There:

Gee, Vicki...sorry t'hear about that bag... :)
Avatar 12:46pm People Like Us:

it was indeed a boring bag
Avatar 12:53pm ndbob:

one of the Spoonful's best songs
Avatar 12:59pm People Like Us:

wow she sounds like Nico
Avatar 12:59pm Roberto:

My father-in-law was a plumber who worked construction with Joe Butler on occasion. Joe took on work as a carpenter after the Spoonful. He says he was a super nice guy, an able carpenter, and a total mess in every other way.
Avatar 1:01pm northguineahills:

I couldn't not hear Nico after your comparison, Vicki.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Charlie:

Nico, mach II
Hi Roberto -- Joe Butler, the singing drumming carpenter, eh?
Avatar 1:07pm Dave E:

Hi Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Charlie:

Well hi, Dave E
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Uncle Michael:

Finally able to pause and say how great these sets have been...
Avatar 1:13pm Carmichael:

Anyone named Hoppy is OK by me.
Avatar 1:15pm Dave E:

Miss your show on the airwaves of NJ; it's good you are here.
Avatar 1:21pm still b/p:

Well, I missed a chunk of show while I tended to some work here at home with a friend, but she brought strawberry and banana for us to share, so all is well. Now should I continue with the work or get OUTside on this assertively warm breezy day?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Uncle Michael:

It's really cool to hear something unfamiliar and wonderful in a set...and sort of horrible too....realizing that if I'd discovered the track *any* other way, I'd play it. It's that way with the "Listen Here" from the first set. Thank you...and damn you, Charlie Lewis. Mostly...thank you. It was really cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Charlie:

Hi Uncle Michael -- thanks! (and Dave). Howdy still b/p. Stay in now, go out later? :)
Avatar 1:25pm Dave E:

Now I know what it's like . . . .
Avatar 1:28pm still b/p:

Well, I'll stay in to sing my Andy impression out loud with this.
Avatar 1:29pm Michael:

Mr. Longet. With his red sweater todayy
  1:31pm jan:

I had to photograph Andy Williams in Branson, MO in 1993. Nice guy, swell digs and his own theater, but to spend the rest of his life in Branson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm pacific standard simon:

@Uncle Michael - You can still play that, you just have to observe the FMU-mandated courtesy hands-off period, which, I believe, is something like six months to a year.

NOT!
Avatar 1:33pm Dave E:

That is a great track by Andy W.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm pacific standard simon:

Think of all the nice ladies who have to spend too much of their lives with Branson in them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Uncle Michael:

Richard Branson?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm pacific standard simon:

Si, si, senor.
Avatar 1:37pm still b/p:

With a little kneading, someone could mash-up Can't Get Used to Losing You and Enya's Orinoco Flow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Charlie:

Looking forward to my Busy Doing Nothing theater in Branson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm SeanG:

have you heard this song "Orinoco Dick"?

mydickband.bandcamp.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Charlie:

Well, Uncle M, I was gonna play "Imagination," but saw you played it recently!
Avatar 1:41pm Roberto:

Yes, Joe Butler, a man of many talents, both artistic and workaday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm listener james from westwood:

amanda played some of the "my dick" oeuvre iirc; don't remember if that one was among 'em.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm listener james from westwood:

from across the room i thought, is that scala i hear? yes!!
  1:42pm Listening Out There:

Charlie & Irwin are the only folks I've heard that play Scala Choir. Good to hear....
Avatar 1:42pm ndbob:

really nice one here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm listener james from westwood:

l.o.t.: the trailer for "the social network" used "creep" in the background. i suspect many fmu lisners lit up when they heard that.
Avatar 1:46pm Carmichael:

I thought this was Nick Drake, upon first hearing.
  1:48pm Listening Out There:

Listener James: Interesting factoid! Never would have known that since I had no desire to see The Social Network. Why go to Facebook...when Facebook comes to you...continuously...inevitably...unwanted...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Doug Schulkind:

I got your typo back, Listener James...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm listener james from westwood:

the trailer was nothing like the movie (which i did not see but which does have a great soundtrack). iirc, it was just screenshots of fb, people setting up profiles, friending one another, posting updates, liking things, etc.
  1:52pm Listening Out There:

Was this Nino Rota in a film? I don't recognize it...
Avatar 1:52pm still b/p:

The Social Network's not a bad movie. Certainly didn't celebrate or elevate the Zuckhead in my view, and sure as hell didn't move me an iota closer to giving in and signing up for his data vacuuming system.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Charlie:

from Juliet of the Spirits

excellent show Charlie!

  1:54pm Listening Out There:

Thanks again, Mr. Charlie Sir! It's just been too many years since I've seen it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Ike:

I enjoy Farcebook. Using the shortened version of my middle name instead of full first name confounds the data vacuuming aspects somewhat. Just use a fake name with your real picture or something. If you have some hilarious acquaintances then you get to see some pretty funny status updates sometimes. However if your friends are all boring then forget it, it's useless.
  1:55pm trish:

Canceled my crapbook account in 2010.
Bender's Big Score is a good The Social Network companion.
And that BBC documentary, which is withering its shelf life behind geoblockers; dear BBC.
