Great show, as always. Amusing, and I always learn something about music. Let me try to answer your question: While traveling in SE Asia a few years ago, I was also surprised by the Hindu elements I encountered. It turns out that the Tamil (or southern Indian) Chola empire spread Hinduism through SE Asia (especially among elites) during the first millenium CE through colonization and trade networks. It was later superseded by Buddhism, but not completely.
