Just another day in paradise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Charlie:

What's paradise without a glacier looming over you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Artie:

... and icy cold runoff in which to chill the yarbles?
Avatar 11:50am Michael:

I was hoping for the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour but I'll try the Charlie Lewis Travelling Sunshine Show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Charlie:

How 'bout The Summer Brothers Smothers Show?
Avatar 11:53am Michael:

With Mason Williams and Pat Paulson!
Avatar 11:59am ndbob:

morning Charlie and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm listener james from westwood:

howdy charlie and all! should we all have matching polyester pantsuits for the traveling sunshine show?
Avatar 12:02pm Carmichael:

Steve Martin (with brown hair) also got his start on the Brothers show. Slainte, Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Charlie:

Hi, Artie, Michael, Bob, James, Carmichael.
Yes, James, follow the 5th Dimension links on last week's show for the outfits.
Right, Carmichael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm pacific standard simon:

Meow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm listener james from westwood:

i promise the jauntiest neckerchief in beautiful downtown burbank!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Charlie:

Rowr, Simon.
Avatar 12:08pm Carmichael:

I just heard "California My Way" by the Committee recently. A cool 60s boppin' travel song about heading west with "the kids". Reminded me of the 5th Dimension, only squarer. Up With People, maybe?
  12:11pm frenchee:

my secret name for this show is "bittersweet."
MASON WILLIAMS oh Yeah....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Pseu:

A fine fondue to you, Chizzy. Dabbing the corners of my mouth right now. We'll think of you when the bright leaves leap to their deaths.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Charlie:

Heya, Frenchee & Pseu! Thanks for the bittersweet fondue :)
Avatar 12:16pm duke:

Hi Charlie and all you do nothings
  12:18pm Laura L:

Hi Charlie--we will miss you until you are settled and can get back to being busy doing nothing--I hope you're not moving to a lonely, uptight town like This Town.
  12:19pm frenchee:

nom nom, bittersweet fondue!
Avatar 12:19pm Michael:

If Charlie isn't here for the foreseeable future will we have to be busy doing something?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Charlie:

Hi Duke, and Laura L --
Any town can be "this town" -- depends what you make of it.
Avatar 12:20pm Carmichael:

Charlie won't be here because he'll be doing something. Me, I ain't doin' a damn thing till he gets back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm listener james from westwood:

won't somebody please do nothing?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm listener james from westwood:

very clever on the hamster count.
Avatar 12:29pm ndbob:

I'm definitely a hamster fan:)
Avatar 12:30pm Carmichael:

I'm not going anywhere near this topic ....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Doug Schulkind:

Sweet Mama KD! My heart melts every time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Charlie:

me too, and hi Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm listener james from westwood:

kd is one of those vocalists i heard for the first time and was just, who on earth is that? how can i hear more?!? fmu's aces for moments like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Charlie:

So, while I'm away, how will you all find your own ways of doing nothing? Finding the nothing in everyday life?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm listener james from westwood:

does arthur lipsett date from when all of these would have to be scotch-taped together? wow if so.
Avatar 12:42pm Carmichael:

My 1st radio job was editing taped commercials and placing them in the 8 track carts. Splicer, scotch tape, and frustration. I wasn't old enough for scotch, or that would be included.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Charlie:

Yes, James, 1963-65. Those are actually the soundtracks to film collages. Not sure if the edits of sound exactly follow film cuts. I've never seen the films. But, yes, lots of edits and tape!
Avatar 12:43pm Monica:

you're the biggest part of us, chaz. god speed you.
Avatar 12:43pm ndbob:

actually I may be moving as well Charlie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm listener james from westwood:

i'll be whiling away the time editing, proofing, and fmu'ing. and hoping for a grand return of nothing!
Avatar 12:48pm Michael:

Well Thursday at noon won't be the same. It took years to figure out what to do on Monday mornings!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Charlie:

Hi Monica, and lol! Better than "holding on to yesterday."
  12:51pm gary mitchell:

this is a dense richly textured show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Charlie:

Hiya, Gary!
  1:02pm gary mitchell:

smokey robinson cited sarah as a major influence
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Uncle Michael:

@Charlie: I'm lovin' the show. I hope you're not gone long. You do a show as I aspire to do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Charlie:

I can easily believe that Gary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Charlie:

Thanks, Uncle Michael. You're doing a great show! A welcome addition to the stream. Listen to Hinky Dinky Time, everyone! wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm listener james from westwood:

speaking of variety shows, the 1st time i ever heard "bang bang" was on the sonny & cher show.
Avatar 1:14pm other eddie:

great show mr. charlie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Charlie:

Gladjalikeit, other Eddie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Charlie:

James, there's a moment to freeze in aspic. I too remember great moments from 60s/70s variety shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Uncle Michael:

I may have played the Mulligan/Baker as loud as anyone has ever played "I'm Beginning to See the Light," in a car.
  1:28pm gary mitchell:

unreleased? what's wrong with you record companies!
Avatar 1:29pm Carmichael:

I remember Redd Foxx on his summer replacement show, doing stand-up with a drink and cigarette, telling borderline filthy jokes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Pseu:

This is like, one of my fave MP sketches. "I sentence you to be hanged from the neck until you cheer up!" -- the current state of things....
Avatar 1:30pm Carmichael:

Yum Bee Buckety!!
  1:31pm gary mitchell:

love Redd Foxx borderline jokes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Charlie:

"And after a time (or a few times)..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Charlie:

Yes, Pseu, cheer up or else.
Avatar 1:35pm Roberto:

I still use that line whenever my wife asks me to do something. "What, now?" I don't think she appreciates the reference.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Pseu:

"what, NOW?" "NOOO tomorrow MORNING..."
  1:35pm jan:

I had a half hour studio visit during which your show was turned off. I just returned to this great Python recording.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Charlie:

Otto!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Charlie:

Hi Jan welcome back!
Avatar 1:37pm Roberto:

And on a closely related note, my wife's sister's husband's cousin is married to Eddie Cantor's grandson.
  1:38pm Laura L:

A postcard found in an antiques shop I keep on a shelf: "CHEER UP while you have the chance! You may be so happy tomorrow you won't have to."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Uncle Michael:

There's always tomorrow afternoon, Pseu.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Charlie:

Roberto -- that's quite a pedigree.
Laura -- that's quite a metaphysical time-warp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm pacific standard simon:

And Paris. We'll always have Paris.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Uncle Michael:

Last night we got it back, Simon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Matt F:

Charlie, I'm gonna miss sitting in Studio C listening to the tail end of your show. Hope you're back soon.
