Howdy! CANADA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm
Jeff Golick:

That reminds me, Richard Ford's book of the same name almost ruined the whole country for me. That novel: not for me, thanks.
Avatar 🦀 12:15pm
duke:

@Jeff, I enjoyed that book. One of the best opening lines of any novel: First, I’ll tell about the robbery our parents committed. Then about the murders, which happened later.
Made me want to find out more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Jeff Golick:

@duke: I agree re the first line. But I found diminishing returns. There was dissension on this one in my book group...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
Jeff Golick:

For my money, great Canadian lit = Michael Ondaatje's COMING THROUGH SLAUGHTER.
Avatar 🦀 12:23pm
duke:

I like a lot of Richard Ford's writing. I really liked A Piece of my Heart and The Sportswriter, but I thought the rest of the Sportswriter trilogy was boring.
Avatar 12:28pm
northguineahills:

I'm getting a feeling my job is rather meeting-heavy.

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Does anyone have trouble listening w/the pop-up player when the show changes over (i.e. 33 minutes ago)? Please write me: kenzodb.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Jeff Golick:

@Kenzo: I have experienced that very thing, though not today. Usually just pausing/restarting stream works fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Jeff Golick:

Today's comment at the top of FMU's home page (wfmu.org) is pretty solid: "Those Aren't Buffering Issues—That's Our Programming."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Jeff Golick:

@ngh: sorry to hear that. Meetings are the worst.
Avatar 1:00pm
northguineahills:

this is downright tastey, eh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Jeff Golick:

Yah.
Avatar 1:24pm
northguineahills:

For some reason, this Church of Anthrax sounds different from what I remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm
Jeff Golick:

@ngh: Better? Worse? Just...different?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Doug Schulkind:

Yeesh. Just now tuning in after marathon shopping-for-summer-camp outing. Packing up to hit the road Wednesday.

Still exhausted from yesterday's 14-inning Pirates game that featured a 2 and half hour rain delay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Jeff Golick:

Pirates now have won many games in a row, I gather.

Down, also, is up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Jeff Golick:

But welcome, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
Doug Schulkind:

Pirates won 51 games before July 1st. First time they've done that since the primordial ooze.
Avatar 1:37pm
northguineahills:

There was an extra organ lick in the foreground I don't recall, and I have the record.
Avatar 1:37pm
Carmichael:

At least since Willie Stargell and Gene Clines.

I'm going out for lunch, too.

I heard that.

I starred the heck out of that Komono thingie. Very nice.
Avatar 1:57pm
bgporter:

Hey -- someone said that northguineahills was leaving and I had to act as a replacement. Wha'd I miss?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm
Jeff Golick:

Terry Riley, Don Cherry, and I mentioned you on air. So, not much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
Jeff Golick:

@Carmichael: yeah, that's a good'un. Doug played that same cut a while back, and the rest is history.
Avatar 2:00pm
bgporter:

Wait, what? Was I slandered? Because I do set myself up for that a lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
Jeff Golick:

@bgporter: This is what happens when you do not tune in on time.

Just called you out as a Zooid attendee.
Avatar 2:05pm
Carmichael:

I'd appreciate anyone who sends air conditioning my way. Today's temp will be 108-110, and it will warm up for the 4th.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
Doug Schulkind:

What'r you complaining about, Carmichael? it's supposed to go back down to 113°F on Thursday.
Avatar 2:10pm
Carmichael:

And it's a dry heat. So I should be fine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
Doug Schulkind:

I can't think why, Jeff, but you just made me think of the old Washington Capital hockey player Bengt Gustafsson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Stanley:

Kenzo reveals himself.
Hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
Jeff Golick:

@Stanley: it's very tasteful when he does so, however.

Also: hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Jeff Golick:

Well that was unexpectedly loud.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
Stanley:

Just back from dipping my toe in Kenzo's show.
I like.
Now back to the serious stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
Doug Schulkind:

A significant element of Kenzo's live sound-collage experimentation is weaving listener calls/noises into the mix. There were technical problems last Wednesday that prevented listener participation. Keep your noses open for this Wednesday!
