Is there a fast food picket line I should be aware of? Haven't heard so I am genuinely wondering.

Danne D, i believe theres a big one in NYC some time this week. there's been an inordinate number of related strikes and walkouts around the US in the past year or so, seems like there might be some momentum growing.

Thanks for the heads up, Steve. I try to be supportive in such situations.

Walmart recently refused to open a new store in DC because of a new law that would have forced them to pay at least $12.50/hour. to pay for that would increase their prices by about 1%, or under 50 cents per trip. the people who run these companies are basically sociopaths as far as i'm concerned.

Hey, this is Ian, I just got dumped for using a naughty word. Forgot everything isn't reddit :)

Anyways my point was that I lived in harlem for most of the past year, and the way people abuse the welfare system is truly sickening. But human nature is what it is, the fix is a system that can't be abused.

The wealth of our nation hangs above us like a pinata dangling there by a rope and pulled around by the rich. Some of us have been able to figure out how to poke a hole enough to get a trickle of what we need. Others have been able to poke large holes. Collectively we are capable of getting together to smack the whole pinata down. But we never will.

the minimum wage is the 60s adjusted for inflation would have been somewhere between $10 and $17 today. some people may be shocked to know that it didn't destroy the economy.
