Television was punk's hippie jam band, loathe Hell may be to accept that. The Cars took musical mannerisms originated by Devo and folded them into pop. IMHO...and all that.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm

Finally releasing the footage? Whoa. I still have my tickets for the cancelled 20th anniversary shows at Veneta Oregon.

Television is among my favorites...desert island stuff. But there's not much of a link between the Cars and Television. That's not a criticism.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm

Anthony Bourdain once remarked, perhaps facetiously, that he would fire anyone who played Grateful Dead in his kitchen. On this, we differ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm

I'm a Deadhead...for life. And I love Bourdain but fuck his punker than thou orthodoxy...not outgrowing that shit is unseemly.

anthony bourdain's a bit of a douchebag, but he did call vegans "the hezbollah like splinter faction of vegetarianism". for this he must be applauded.

oh, i like bourdain, in the "i'm glad i don't have to deal with him or i'd kill him" kind of way.
Avatar 1:17pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I find closing Browser & re-opening faster than waiting to refresh then often...presume this is likely about my computer more than anything - but maybe everyone has it & doesn't mention it...

- Not a foodie - but you make Bourdain sound like SimonCowell (whom I've never watched) - but in FoodieWorld maybe that's like being a Parisian waiter er somethin' ...
Avatar 1:19pm
Carmichael:

I like Bourdain just fine. Sure, he's eccentric and a little sour sometimes, in a New York way. I don't take him seriously enough to dislike him, I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm
Amanda:

I like to relaunch the stream or the pop-up window if I have trouble with it... I advise everyone to try that first always. Luckily I haven't had to restart the stream lately (knock knock)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm

It's his schtick. It's a bit tired and I understand that he's stuck with it. It's his brand identity. I don't hold it against him. I just choose to remember the good times.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm

I suspect that Bourdain is a better writer than cook, and I like him best when he works against the easy path. And I'm happy that he's found a way out of the kitchen -- it's no country for old men.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm
Alex In Illinois:

Wikipedia claims tht Stan Kenton died in 1979, but I could swear that I saw him play in 1983.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm
Uncle Michael:

By all accounts, his pre-fame restaurant was very good. I like his respect for other chefs. His writing about his first visit to the French Laundry, which he went to with a bit of a chip on his shoulder, as I recall, is a good read.
