Yeah, I'm glad WFMU has schooled me on the deeper aspects of 70s music. As a teen I listened to the obvious 70s dinosaurs, Bowie, T Rex, Dolls, Lou Reed, Ramones, punk, etc and later I plumbed the depths of post punk. FMU has specifically hepped me to Van Der Graaf Generator, Budgie, Dwight Twilley, Equals, obscurer glam.

Firstly, listening to NYC radio in the late 60s on, I was exposed to lot of great freeform stuff that just "disappeared" with the increasing suckiness of FM that started in the mid-70s.Secondly, music that I wasn't originally into somehow got better with FMUs "curation". Then of course, there's all the stuff I missed first time 'round.

Quite humurous. The story of a man who goes through life bumbling into one unlucky situation after another. Pretty interesting descriptions of post-colonial Trinidad. I definitely recommend the book. It was written by V.S. Naipal.
