...A point I always wanna make :
- They want to hold Manson up as the Dark Side of the Hippies &/or Counter-Culture

- but he's Older! - like a few months older than Elvis.
- & he spent fully half his young life as a Petty Criminal (& I presume abused/abandoned child) in Jail & Institutions:
- *actually*, branches of the Establishment !
- *That's* what his roots are, & *that's* where he comes from!
- HE'S *THEIRS*.

- & more to the points Cope made there (? - though I can't confidently say that)
- today we would recognize Manson for what he was - a whacked-out goofball - no major mass-murderer by numbers even (esp. in terms of the 'New Normal' of gun violence...)

...on the other hand - I thjnk the Cult & mind-control aspects of the Family really *are* more unique & disturbing - & maybe even culturally relevant somehow...

Could you imagine if Manson had gotten a hold of an Anthony Robbins book...

Think you should pitch that idea as a new adult swim sitcom Danne D!

Charles Manson learned that it's hard out there for a pimp

@Hamburger - Charles Manson - motivational speaker?

heard an interesting talk which referenced Tony Robbins "He published a book called "Awake the Giant within"" oh boy... hope the context of his motivational talk is for the right reasons...

This is confirming my worst suspicions of all of the above sources - you put 'em in a soup and Manson comes out

What kind of tattoo would Manson put on his forehead if he was generation x or even a millenials. What was he, a baby boomer? If so that makes sense he chooses a Nazi thing, or is that a Bhudist symbol he has on there.

Does anyone think that Charles Manson is the Andy Kaufman of murder?
Avatar 6:40pm
Danne D:

No - he's the Lenny Kravitz of Murder
Avatar 6:42pm
Danne D:

Sounds like Buffalo Springfield

...it's a little close to home when I consider the Beach Boys' 45 (w/ the pretty little yellow & orange Capital Records label) of 'Never Learn Not to Love You' was in the stack I blithely grooved to as a youngster...

@RR1163 hmm now the avatar and name make more sense ;)
