@ZHour: ever hit the Turkuaz restaurant on 1ooth & Bway?
for a few years they had really, really top-notch trio of Turk musicians, 3 brothers I think, who played every Thursday night, live, all night. 3-4 sets. At 11pm a different guest belly dancer would perform to their accompaniment. And this was all in the bar area up front, not in the dining room. it was too special to last, they just have the touristy dance show w,recorded music now. Food's real authentic

Still thinking about food, and now seeing those Russian car crash antics made me think about drinking vodka...

@Bill: Have you heard the show Julie did in June with Aida the Turkish Queen? She put an HD photo on the playlist of a big display of Turkish pastries. The Baklava, Bird's Nest, those cannoli-like crispy rolls filled with pistachio paste, etc.
Staring at it for hours while listening made everyone almost psychedelically fixated, if there was place to get that stuff in the NY/NJ area in the middle of the night, it would have been mobbed by listeners. (Now that would have been a real sweet meetup *rimshot*)
