Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Patrick:

OHIO Funk edition!!! im so excited im gonna bite someones shoulder!! ive been waiting for years!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Patrick:

i remember when The Best Show used to be on and that one dude from the doors died and Tom said he thought about doing a small tribute to him, but then realized that it would be totally disingenuous considering he had spent hours of the show talking about how much he hated the doors.
Avatar 12:43pm
Duane:

Yeah..I've been known to write published essays about how the Doors are responsible for some of the worst musical trends of the past 30 years..:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Patrick:

bravo Duane you are doing to lords work!
Avatar 12:49pm

Please direct us to where you swatted the Lizard King & Co., so we can read the makin' o' the case.
Avatar 12:51pm
Jshatan:

This is a fantastic version! My favorite to sing along with is Harry Nilsson's demented take, however.
Avatar 12:56pm
Duane:

still b/p: I gotta find it..it was for the Finders Keepers 'zine. I think I wrote it back in '05. I got wasted with Andy Votel, Gareth Cherrystones & Jazzman Gerald and they were rolling on the floor when I started ranting, cuz the bartender wouldn't stop playing the Doors..they made me write an essay for them..it's called "The Doors get slammed"
  1:00pm
david from ks:

,,,,, nnnPlease ! Keep the doors Locked!!!
Avatar 1:02pm
still b/p:

Or you could take a taste for y'self right now and rrrrramp it up again, live! ..over a non-Doors groove bg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Kat in Chicago:

Getting wasted with Andy Votel sounds like fun :) also, perfect title for that essay.
Avatar 1:05pm
still b/p:

And though he didn't know it was happening, Duane won that night's Spoken Word Slam.
Avatar 1:06pm
Duane:

Kat: Wasted with Andy is more like a contact sport and endurance test, but it's still Pretty fun, once you know what you're in for..those Northerners, man!
Avatar 1:06pm
robyn:

i want to read The Doors essay, too. Maybe it'll make me feel better for the hours I lost being lectured to about how Jim Morrison was such a genius in high school...
Avatar 1:10pm
robyn:

I'd venture to guess if Jim Morrison looked like Wallace Shawn we would spend a lot less time listening to/about the Doors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm
Kat in Chicago:

@robyn I suspect as much
Avatar 1:18pm

@robyn: Yeah, but that's inconceivable.
Avatar 1:23pm

Guido from Cologne:

Dug the shop around loui treatments.

Doesnt that bass guitar sound defintely British? If i remember right, one of the two producer/writers played it.
Avatar 2:42pm
t_J:

if there's been ever some "perfect songs" written they will surely be found easily on funk or soul ... besides the beatles
Avatar 2:43pm
Duane:

Guido:Yeah Neil Merryweather played bass on that one
Avatar 2:44pm
t_J:

i liked it some flavors of double picking
Avatar 2:47pm

Avatar 2:58pm
t_J:

meaning that in pop you also can look for perfection but it's more vast and in rock you have to explore its extremes in order to decode comfort of fulfillment..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm
chris:

woot! thanks, Daune! Thanks, All!
Avatar 3:00pm
t_J:

comfort, if not looking for profit, can mean the property of your own way and the licks far past the memory of your sounds
