Afternoon, Brian! Right you are.

Psychoanalyist to patient: You are schizophrenic, that will be $100 each.

How do, Jeff, Brian, and all!

Morning, listener james!

Another punchline for another joke: You are two tents. (Kills with the nine-year-old set.)

Hi, Jeff, James and Brian! I have a bad thumb -- careless kitchen injury -- so won't be typing much. Ears are fine though!

Say, Jeff, I sent email to you two different ways and never heard back. You get them?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am
Brian in UK:

james, a quick question. When you read books that have been translated, do you find there is more how shall I say awkward syntax due to the translators endeavours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01am
Brian in UK:

Hello kat.

For today's theme, I must post my "famous" old tagline: Freudian slips are the underwear of ideas.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am
listener james from westwood:

Sorry to hear about the thumb, kat330! Yikes!
@Brian, it depends on the translator. Presumably most books (esp. those by high-profile authors who are known earners like Murakami) are also copyedited, so if the book editor doesn't point out indelicacies in the translation, the CE might.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05am
listener james from westwood:

I would guess there's an art to having the translation convey something of the original through vocabulary choices and rhythm, without making the text appear stilted by completing duplicating the syntax, which on a literal basis would represent a speedbump for the reader.

i have lots of freud saw blades and router bits. excellent stuff.

@James: Thanks. Amazing how much I can do with my left hand as it turns out, but very concerned about impairment playing guitar and piano once it heals. It was a not insignificant chunk of flesh at the tip by the nail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am
Jeff Golick:

@kat330! Mea culpa - indeed I did get your emails, many thanks. Had wanted to listen to your stuff before replying, but perhaps that was too high a bar for me...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am
Jeff Golick:

Hi @glenn! @ndbob! @Doug!
Avatar 9:09am
kat330:

@Jeff: Yes, finding time for DJ programs presents the same problem in reverse, but we all must try, nessy paw. BTW, I really enjoy your Magic Hour "statement" at page top.

Now, this gal will leave comments to the Boys, as it seems the theme warrants IAE. See ya!

No way in hell is K-Rock ever playing Animal Collective, I know that for sure, unless Ken Freedman finds the right 6 lucky numbers and buys their wattage!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am
Jeff Golick:

Hey, it's Uncle Michael! Thanks for the offer. Would love to, really. But it's more a matter of what I'd *lose* by not showing up at work (gainful employ), than what I'd gain by staying here (boundless joy).
