Ditto here. Up late thanks to a weird cold/flue relapse. But must go soon. But will be here in spirit for now.

Good morning!

why do some states proclaim themselves as "right to work"? it seems it they should be called "right to be under paid and fuct in the ass state " or am I going too far?
Avatar 3:13am
Jherweg:

Thanks. The archives there is always the archives... Hey Kafuka!!

I don't know Joey ask that fuck Scott Walker he got rid of collective bargaining IN WI, thanks to the koch bros and the stupid electorate there.
  3:15am
JakeGould:

Some states want “right to work” because they do not want unions to dictate when workers work. Meaning the phrase should be “right to scab.”
  3:16am
JakeGould:

And joey, what does that have to do with anything?
  3:17am
joey:

fuck scans and walker
  3:18am
JakeGould:

Are you in Wisconsin? I doubt he’ll get far in Wisconsin with that. I lived in Madison a while and they are very pro-worker there. Hard to imagine that gaining real traction.

You have the right to be a slave for a non living wage. You have the right to live below the poverty line even though you work 60 hours a week .

Jake, yr right...nothing to do with this show...but I've been driving all around for work and had this question in my head and just wanted to see someone's else view
  3:20am
JakeGould:

It’s taken me a long time to realize that in the 1970s my parents both worked factory jobs yet we still had a life. My parents went to work from basically 9 to 5 and we were definitely poor, but not to the extent you see nowadays. There was some way out and some way to save. No need for credit. Now in the 2000s, what a mess. A different world.
  3:23am
JakeGould:

Joey, hope you find work. At least that is what you are driving around for, right? Anyway, you read stories about New Yorkers—artists and hippies in the 1970s—working crap jobs but having lives and careers. So Fran Liebowitz could drive a cab yet be a writer. Sterling Morrison leaves the Velvet Underground but becomes a tugboat captain and that works. No doubt some artists can still wing a work-a-day gig and such, but in the U.S. nowadays you’re juggling jobs to survive so much it seems like another planet.

Let's just not have heroes period. Just people, citizens if you like, but no heroes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24am
coelacanth:

i agree. whatever else one could lay on him, he's a hero for exposing that.
...but most people aren't smart enough to know how important that is.
...yeah-agreed on that too. sniper dude was a douche.
now he's a dead douche.

Eat a big salad to counter the chocolate, Jonathan.
  3:26am

I'm sorry Jake but I wasn't clear...no...yea I have a job...just finished 20 straight days...i, unfortunately, clean foreclosed homes...I drive all over southern cali doing just that

Is it fair to say America is in freefall?
Avatar 3:35am
Jherweg:

People have been saying that since the 60's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38am
coelacanth:

it's irrational to think the spiral downward would not naturally gain momentum because of "technology".
  3:39am
Rory:

Coelacanth, agreed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40am
coelacanth:

it could have slowed or even reversed -in the 70s...but reagan and his puppeteers put an abrupt halt to progressive thinking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41am
coelacanth:

{progressive in a social & civil sense}
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43am

...and pragmatic sense.

sorry- i need sleep.
g'night now. Thanks again Jh

I think Ronald Reagan did his fair share of damage then Bush came and then it was like what happened? Is the joke on us?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45am
coelacanth:

the bush family was behind reagan, pulling the strings.
-so you're right.

OKAY! ciao peeps!
Avatar 3:45am
Jherweg:

I think it will collapse suddenly like a house of cards, this greed and disparity in wealth is not sustainable, in the end it won;t even serve the one percent. The amazing part is they got so many people to believe the lies and vote against their best interests.
  3:51am
JakeGould:

Don't know everyone's relative age here, but around the time Reagan took office, the minimum wage stopped growing but cheap credit became more common. My parents never had credit cards. Now who doesn't? And cheap credit gives you the illusion of cash flow, but better hourly wages ensure that.

Not saying it's a calculated conspiracy, but I do believe the push towards credit culture is a key factor to this mess. And in NYC there is a sick side effect to this: Real estate in NYC nowadays is now more based on cash than credit.
