Listening OT -- I "lionize" you for that comment.
Avatar 12:12pm still b/p:

Jimmy Durante sings a weak ditty at a living room piano in The Man Who Came To Dinner that seems to owe something to Hello, I Must Be Going...or at least I wondered 'bout it "Did you ever have the feeling that you wanted to go, and then you had the feeling that you wanted to stay..." His character in the picture is based on Harpo Marx.
Avatar 12:13pm Kurt Gottschalk:

YES!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Mike East:

anyone remember "The Animal Song" from The State?

Here's one for yesterday, aka National Pun Day: Horse walks into a bar. Bartender sez, "Why the long face?"

Hello, I must be going.
  12:56pm jan:

Fine program, a bit distracting from the work at hand.
Avatar 12:57pm glenn:

weasels, huh? news.nationalpost.com...
Avatar 12:58pm ndbob:

I think Flash is off this week though
Avatar 12:59pm Wilson K:

Jeff, I know a version of that one with a second punchline: Horse walks into a bar. Bartender sez, "Why the long face?" Horse sez: "Because I'm an alcoholic."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Charlie:

OK, Bob, thanks for the heads-up on that.
Hi Wilson, Jan, Jeff G
Sorry to distract you, Jan ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Jeff Golick:

@Wilson K: I'll have to update my kid's version.

Here's one more -- A bear walks into a bar. He says to the bartender, "I like a..."

beer."

Bartender sez, "Why the big paws?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Parq:

Ah, I was hoping for a Copp and Brown sighting.

Hi Doug -- sorry to hear about that. We're a little heavy on the busy today more than the nothing, but hope it will provide some balm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm listener james from westwood:

Always dug this Pyrolator cut. Goes back to my earliest FMU memories.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Doug Schulkind:

Balm's away, Cholly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Charlie:

It's forever burned in my mind from the years Tony Coulter used it as his opening theme. Esp as he was on after me for some time
Avatar 1:15pm Wilson K:

Reminds me of a longer "Panda walks into a bar..." shaggy dog joke. You can stretch it out as long as you like, w/punchline "As the smoke clears, the bartender hurriedly flips through the pages of an old dictionary. "Yep, that was a panda. Eats, shoots, and leaves."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm listener james from westwood:

Exactly. Noon on his day of the week for some time in 92 or 93. He started at 11am one day and I got FEROCIOUSLY hungry b/c it was my lunch cue at work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Jeff Golick:

Oooof. Sorry to hear that, Doug.
Avatar 1:16pm still b/p:

  1:19pm jan:

Teletubbies! Yaaayyy
Avatar 1:19pm Carmichael:

The Teletubbies was a strange and creepy show. My kids loved it. So would have I, had I been on acid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Charlie:

Doug -- read back for the animal jokes -- it'll cheer you up.
Avatar 1:21pm ndbob:

Ah a rodent reference
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Doug Schulkind:

What, no capybara jokes?! What kind of a crowd is this?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm doctorjazz:

Sorry to hear that Doug, hope all is well.
Avatar 1:26pm ndbob:

I have a bunch of capybara stories actually Doug:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Jeff Golick:

Folks from the media/publications dep't of the San Diego Zoo spoke at the last American Copy Editors Society meeting. The session's title was "Even Gorillas Need Copy Editors." The speakers all basically had dream jobs for animal lovers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm listener james from westwood:

Charlie, that sounds like a job for Language Removal Services.
  1:40pm jan:

@Carmichael: I watched the Teletubbies on PBS as a fully formed adult after reading of the controversy that the show caused. Club kids in GB did watch the program after a night of carousing on E. I enjoyed it straight.
It was Fritz Lang Metropolis meets Busby Berkeley on Acid. I mentioned watching it to Ken F and for a few weeks he DJ'd records to watch the show with the sound turned down.
Avatar 1:40pm Carmichael:

Great Daniel Johnston cover here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Charlie:

That whole album's great, Carmichael.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Parq:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm listener james from westwood:

Some public awareness campaign, maybe even for the Bronx Zoo, used to run ads on NYC television using the opening and closing of this S&G cut. So that was one of your major memory madeleines right there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm listener james from westwood:

Hah, Kurt, we're having the same chills from different ad campaigns!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm listener james from westwood:
