Favoriting Infinite Distortion: Playlist from April 1, 2015 Favoriting

A piercing, slicing, crushing odyssey through raw emotions, harsh noise, grinding blasts, hardcore punk, and unsettling thoughts. It's like if DS9 was more like Event Horizon, but as a radio show.

"The American Jean" by Helium is the real American jean
  8:31pm
JakeGould:

“The American Jean” by Helium is exactly about the Wrangler/Levis jean debates. Does Lee get mixed in there? I like Lee. But nowadays, I am pretty much all about Uniqlo. How the economy has changed the world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm
tomasz.:

as i recall, "people say [Mary and her beau are] the Levi's team"
Avatar 8:33pm
Bosh:

LOVE Wrangler Brutes, tomasz. Let's play some of them soon.

LOVING THIS JEANS DISCUSSION. Lee makes an excellent jean- Uniqlo is stylish and cheap, but not durable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm
tomasz.:

@Bosh: anything involving McPheeters is alright with me. also did you know their drummer is a Beard Award-winning NY pastry chef now?
  8:34pm
JakeGould:

@Bosh: I beg to differ about Uniqlo. I’ve had a good run with Uniqlo jeans of all types.
Avatar 8:36pm
Bosh:

@tomasz His book was SO good- even better on a second read. I do know about Brooks! He's amazing!

@JakeGould it could be because I only get the tight skinny jeans because I'm insufferable. What kind do you get?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
tomasz.:

hm. i don't really have jean opinions. the first time i ever wore jeans, i fell in a river and so i didn't wear them for like 15 years after that. had a pair of Wu-Tang jeans once, they were pretty good
  8:37pm
JakeGould:

FWIW, getting a jean jacket in high school in 1984 was a big deal. Cost like $49.99 back then… Lasted a while. As for the Uniqlo stuff, I just get the basic denim stuff. The selvedge crap that you are not supposed to wash, but I wash anyway. Pure cotton. No spandex or lycra or that other stuff they put in “skinny jeans.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
tomasz.:

how i figure you wouldn't know about B Headley? duhhh. got that book still in the to-read pile!
Avatar 8:38pm
Bosh:

I LOVE THE SPANDEX.

@tomasz, I want to hear that river story! Also, Brooks' cookbook is apparently awesome- I need to read THAT. It's designed like a 90's hardcore zine!
  8:39pm
JakeGould:

I also like their plain cotton non-denim colored jean-like stuff. Lasts a while. But still not as long as this old pair of Wrangler’s I used to have. That used to be reliable stuff. Just go to Modell’s and buy a pair in your size, go home and wear them for like 7 years without a problem.
  8:40pm
JakeGould:

Bosh, the issue you then have with Uniqlo is how cheap their spandex jeans can be. That stuff can disintegrate within a year. 100% pure cotton here.
Avatar 8:40pm
Bosh:

I got some Dockers khaki-goes-skinny jeans things on sale and they're way sturdier. And hilariously colored.
  8:42pm
JakeGould:

@Bosh: Oh man, those Dockers! I tried a pair once and man… Did not work for me… And their whole tag marketing on those things makes me ill. With Uniqlo to me it’s like the 21st century version of the Gap. I mean back when I was a teen in the 1980s the Gap had some great stuff. Now they are like stuffy, old and odd as a brand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
tomasz.:

you could be like the David Byrne of jean jackets
Avatar 8:45pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Good lord. I haven't owned any denim in about ten years...
  8:47pm
daddo:

Denim derives from the industry that created this fabric in Nimes, France. Mom and I were there. No more denim facts at present.
  8:47pm
JakeGould:

“This ain’t you grandpas Dockers!”

  8:52pm
JakeGould:

@Bosh: Wonder if the hipsters will ever start calling jeans, “dungarees” again. All my elementary school teachers in the 1970s called jeans “dungarees” and that sounded dated to me then.
Avatar 8:53pm
Bosh:

Oh man... it DOES sound dated.
  8:53pm
JakeGould:

“Dungaree is often compared to denim, but the two fabrics are coloured in different ways, dungaree traditionally being woven from pre-coloured yarn, while denim was made from uncoloured yarn and only coloured after weaving.”

by the way, is everyone aware that JNCOs are back? they're back, baby.
  8:55pm

@tomasz.: Yes, JNCOs allow you to hide a whole family… IN YOUR PANTS! *zing*
  8:56pm
daddo:

Dungarees were not the last article of clothing to reference animal waste. There are still shit kickers. (Texican for boots.)
