Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05am Konin:

Morning, Frank. Sun is up and shining. Ready for your show. Hi, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09am Sem Chumbo:

Glad I made it too. Good morning, Frank, and O'Toolaids here-and thereabouts.
Pronounce *about* as *aboot* and become an honourary Canuck.
Avatar 6:10am fxo:

Konin: goob morgan. It's rain back here.

Sem: hows bayou?
  6:11am P-90:

Guten TZAG, fxo and all O'Toologists. Haven't heard this version of Morning Dew before, intriguing.
Avatar 6:13am fxo:

Guten TZAG, P-90.
  6:16am P-90:

If anyone's not familiar with Robert Plant's cover of this song from his (in my opinion best) solo album "Dreamland" from 20002, you might check it out. Like his cover of "Darkness, Darkness", it seems to have influenced other covers of the song that have been done since.

FXO: drinking the O'Toolaid again this am:-D
Wouldn't be Monday without a few exciting moments to get the heart started.
Avatar 6:26am 3d-nyc:

Morning All-
Grey skys but dry, with a chorus of morning bird outside mixing with cha-cha
Avatar 6:27am 3d-nyc:

Brooklyn that is...
  6:29am Cooh John:

Goo morning fxo & fxoers. Aboot to start my week with you all and WFMU.
Avatar 6:30am fxo:

thanks for the update, 3d.

Cooh: glad we're here.
Avatar 6:35am mauri:

Hey Frank. what's what? up's up.
Avatar 6:36am fxo:

here, here, mauri. ...and there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49am left:

Greetings all. Sunny and spring-y here in east Ireland. Glad to be tuning in live this morn. It's been a while.
  6:53am Cooh John:

Loved this song since I first heard it from the movie Radio Baghdad.
Avatar 6:54am fxo:

top o' the afternoon, left.
Avatar 7:00am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- ey-up! Grey in NewHampshuh. Good sounds though.
Avatar 7:04am fxo:

hey RevRab. Chill in our morning, eh?
  7:10am P-90:

Profoundly gray and a light but steady rain on the Upper West Side now. Still, feels like a spring rain, not the endless winter.
Avatar 7:10am 3d-nyc:

love this version of "Up from the skies"
Avatar 7:13am 3d-nyc:

Hendricks' wa wa pedal was amazing, yet Rankins version works fine too-
Avatar 7:13am pierre:

Bonjour FxO !
Avatar 7:17am fxo:

bonjour, Pierre.
Avatar 7:24am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yes - the Elvis by Bill Lloyd helps me appreciate the song as well.
  7:30am P-90:

Better than Moviefone!
Avatar 7:37am 3d-nyc:

BTW- Rankins interpetation does not seem like simply a version or cover of a known song... Ferry was able to do this occasionally too I think-
Avatar 7:42am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- there is the point of view : why cover a song if you can't do something different / interesting / expressive of yourself w/ it?
Avatar 7:44am fxo:

agreed, to both of you, 3d & RevRab.
Avatar 7:45am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

..&/or that reveals something about the song...
Avatar 7:50am fxo:

taking an old tune, with a new twist.
Avatar 7:52am 3d-nyc:

As a listener, a differnet take can reveal new facets about a song..
if the song has them to revealed that is-
Giant Fingers version of Eno's "Babys on fire" does that too I think-
Avatar 7:56am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ferry - hm! ...so now thinking - what are the great covers? 'Tambourine Man' by The Byrds - we sort-of forget it's one...Jazz was (is) all about Standards & taking them somewhere (playing the 'head' & going elsewhere) - Folk was (is) about reinterpretation of Tradition (Dylan himself - much stuff often based heavily on Traditional or Blues songs)
...a topic that could go on & on - unless we limit it to Rawk/Pop or something...
  7:56am Jack:

Good Morning folks, a great music morning, thanks Mr. DJ.
Avatar 7:58am fxo:

morning Jack.

Rev, somethings can help, or hurt. Yet, another p.o.v.
Avatar 8:08am 3d-nyc:

Classical conductors interpetations of a composers piece can vary,
but not nearly to the extent that Pop music can be by various musicians..

@ fxo:
Agreed, help , hurt, ...but sometimes reflect something not originally apparent-
Avatar 8:17am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- interpreting - well or badly, misinterpreting, reinterpreting, & just plain repurposing...because I likes big words...
Avatar 8:44am SiHV:

Tuning in for the end. I liked the Turnquist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45am Sem Chumbo:

Delicious morning of flavourful O'Toole-aid. Gotta run now, but not running on empty, with this morning's spins still fresh between my ears. Take care, fxo, and see ya next time!
