This single is making me feel nauseous. Someone put it near their spaceheater as a kid?
Avatar 9:11pm
Mugsy:

Enjoyed the show last Saturday. Fun stuff.
Avatar 9:12pm
Pat Byrne:

Thanks, Mugsy! That means the world!
  9:13pm
JakeGould:

The rest of the singles are settling my stomach now.

This Hank Williams sounds great.

Good to hear Jake. Thanks em2, and Hey Glenn!

Little Richard? Is calm?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm
Dave the Spazz:

After a lot of thought on the matter, I've gotta say that this is my favorite Little Richard song. Both parts. And favorite Hendrix song.
Avatar 9:22pm
Pat Byrne:

Dave The Spazz, agreed 101%

i like most of the hendrix songs i don't hear 300 times a day.

or at least, used to hear.

best riff ever written by a fifteen year old from dubberly, louisiana.

JakeGould:

Pat, killing it tonight despite that warped “Nude Beach” track that was placed near someone’s hot plate one Shabbos and then got into your hands somehow.
Avatar 9:29pm
Pat Byrne:

Thanks Jake. Glad we're not dwelling on things... Geez Louise! ;P

Sweet Heetcha-hykah!
  9:32pm
JakeGould:

@Pat: I seriously like damaged and “well loved” records. They have history.
Avatar 9:35pm
Pat Byrne:

Oh, I believe it! Just bustin' beans!
  9:43pm
JakeGould:

Just out of curiosity, but has anyone found a record at the record fair—in the dollar bin or something—that clearly has some weird history. Like writing or stickers? Pretty certain a true thrift store is the only source of that magic.
Avatar 9:50pm
Pat Byrne:

Happens All The Time! Why, earlier today, Micheal Shelley was talking about that very phenomenon!
  9:51pm
sugarwolf:

I've bought records at thrifts that had clippings of reviews of whatever musical the album was, but I don't think any from the record fair.
  9:52pm
SeanG:

Music is the most important thing in the world.
  9:55pm
JakeGould:

Sugarwolf understands what I mean. I think even record fair dollar bins get a once through that clears cruft like someone shoving a $1 bill or love note into the sleeve. Or some dealers have prominent rare items with some slight defacement. Like this Johnny Mathis LP/portrait combo I spotted that had “I’m Fruity” scrawled on it. instagram.com...
Avatar 9:58pm
sugarwolf:

well the Jacques Dutronc EP I bought last year says "année 1966" and "Mon(??) Josette" written on it.
  9:58pm
em2:

not quite what you're talking about, but I once found a WMCA program guide inbetween records in a flea market bin
  10:00pm
Cooh John:

Great fill between the legal ID's. Cbus loves you.
  10:01pm
JakeGould:

@em2: Just talking about magical signs of a real human owning the LP instead of it just being an LP and a sleeve. That stuff. Like I worked in a college bookstore once and wow, the stuff we found in books we bought back. Boy howdy, people left all kinds of stuff behind.

Cooh John:

What show? I have a vacuum cleaner fetish.

Blacktooth:

one time I went to the record fair and saw a bunch of people hunched over records. Scowling and smirking and frowning at each other. It was amazing.
  10:15pm
JakeGould:

@sugarwolf: We found money used as bookmarks in college texts back in the 1980s. Also, horrible test blue books… Just horrible… What dolts!

Tonight's show is great! As much as I am enjoying it, I do think you might want to mix it up every once in awhile. Have you given any thought to ever doing a variety show???
  10:49pm

I think Todd deserves a Snickers for that idea.
