People dancing wore out the rug?
  9:14pm
JakeGould:

Whoa! So is this technically a Weird Al cover or a Michael Jackson cover? Either way, it’s great.

Richard from Venezuela:

Good start

It's so empowering to learn that DJs have trouble making out lyrics too.
  10:19pm
Listener Robert:

I couldn't make out the line before that one, either.

Could you settle to shoot me, or have you reached your target yet
Avatar 10:19pm
sugarwolf:

the internet says it's "could you settle to shoot me"
  10:20pm
Listener Robert:

If you gave us the preceding line, it could help.
  10:21pm
Listener Robert:

I'm afraid you'd have to dump it, because I'm afraid he's singing, "I gave you some, you shitbag."
  10:24pm
Mary Wing:

Here's a lyric video which says " could you settle to shoot me but you haven't picked your target yet"

For the record, I didn’t mention and don’t care about G.G. Allin. But hey! Cool song!

No one should listen to NPR. They canceled The Danny Stiles Show

Mary Wing:

Mark Mulcahy wouldn't say "shitbag" for a children's TV show, would he?
  10:28pm
jack from mke:

or would he?

Ken From Hyde Park:

Plattsburgh, NY, is pretty far north in New York state. If you crossed Lake Champlain, you'd be north of Burlington, VT.
  10:33pm
Listener Robert:

Now that I look at the YouTube, Ms. Wing, it's pretty convincing, but that might be the case w any supertitles. I was totally unaware of this TV show, let alone that it was for children. But I'm still trying to make sense of it.

Apparently the singer's persona is looking at someone, questioning the strange look on his face, wondering whether he's contemplating violence. Is that better for a children's show than "shitbag"?
  10:33pm
Mary Wing:

It's "It's a metaphysical moment!"
  10:34pm
jack from mke:

a pin drops like a pungent odor.
  10:39pm
Listener Robert:

Ach! Exploring further, it's said the line refers to the shooting of Sandy Scheuer at Kent St. U. in 1970. It just keeps getting darker.
  10:41pm
jack from mke:

Robert, where did you find that?
  10:43pm
JakeGould:

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Yoda.
  10:45pm
Listener Robert:

Jack, I followed Ms. Wing's link, upon which YouTube also put up its suggestions. One of the other pirated vids of that piece had an extensive comment thread, where I got that idea from several commenters there. Apparently it's an indirect allusion based on another song w the title, "Hey, Sandy".
  10:46pm
Listener Robert:

It's at least as credible as any other rumor so far. Apparently they've never released official lyrics.

Eric:

I was planning to verbally, but good point. This was actually engineered by their touring sound person, who's name I didn't catch. Thanks for listening.

Volunteer WFMU engineers were there and require a solid shout out. Thank them. Nothing happens without them, studio B or Monty Hall-

Were YOU one of the engineers? If so, can you give me your name? I know Mario was on 3, and Serge did house, but did not know who was on the main house board- or rather, did not recognize them/ have never met that person. Please let me know if YOU know who that was

Thanks for tonight's entertainment, Pat. Would it be possible to add a link or whatever into the playlist at some point that would contain the rest of the interview?

FWIW< I believe the old Tube Bar used to be where that vacant grass filled lot across from the Loews in Jersey City now is. goo.gl...
  12:03am
JakeGould:

Bingo! Got it. I believe the exact address was: 12 Tube Concourse, Jersey City, NJ.

Mac had a sound man with him who was on the main board.
