Good morning Jonathan. Good morning everyone.

Good morning Jonathan!

JakeGould:

Hey! So those quotes are from the 1970s, “Emergency!” show? Fave for me as a kid.
Avatar 3:12am
Jherweg:

Thats right Jake , I did a low fi Iphone recording the other day, while i was laying around my apartment in my own filth.
  3:13am
JakeGould:

That “…in my own filth.” part is a bit TMI, FYI, OK?
Avatar 3:14am
Jherweg:

SOme of my best shows are spawned from laying around in my own filth , don't knock it.
Avatar 3:15am
Jherweg:

I sort of looked like Randolph Mantooth in my younger years.
  3:16am
JakeGould:

Whoa…Randolph Mantooth! A name I only remember barely and now like a scab, it’s been pricked off and a drip of bloody memory appears.
  3:17am
JakeGould:

“He is of Seminole, Cherokee, Potawatomi, Scottish and German descent.” So basically his mom was an American Indian lady and his dad was some hornball European guy.
Avatar 3:17am
Jaackk:

Blurred and Obscured with... Randolph Mantooth.
Avatar 3:18am
Jherweg:

That's right! I've been watching a lot of METV, it makes me feel warm and safe and cosy when NYC gets too overwhelming.
Avatar 3:22am
Mary Wing:

I knew this Cat Power song in about 3 notes. Does anyone think having a version of Name That Tune with FMU DJs would be a good idea for a show?
  3:23am
LondoN:

Morning Earwig

Kafuka:

This is the best cat power. Thanks for herbal research. I didn't know this cool italian
Avatar 3:25am
Jherweg:

Howdy London!
Avatar 3:26am
Jherweg:

I just stumbled on that today myself Kufuka!
Avatar 3:29am
Jherweg:

I would be bad at naming that tune i think. If it was a contest with other dj's here at the station would crush me.
  3:31am
JakeGould:

@MaryWing: What about a “Dr. Gameshow” game where callers/players will call in and have to hum, blurt, thzzbtt the first few bars of some song to recognize it. Kind of like what record store clerks used to do all the time back in the day, “I heard this song on NPR… It goes… ‘Derrr dummm deee dummm derrr derr dum!!!’ you got that in stock?”
Avatar 3:34am
Mary Wing:

I'd prefer to hear the actual songs, that's my best chance at naming them.
  3:35am
JakeGould:

@MaryWing: Welp… That would need coordination, right? I mean a DJ would need to have a gajillion clips cued up.
Avatar 3:36am
Mary Wing:

I thought you were moved by Joanna Newsom, Jonathan?
Avatar 3:37am
Mary Wing:

Well, it could be a round-robin thing, Jake. Say there are 6 DJs playing, and they all have 10 snippets. That way one DJ wouldn't have to do all the work.
  3:38am
JakeGould:

@MaryWing: I still say Jo Firestone would be able to coordinate that. Maybe a special marathon show?
  3:39am
JakeGould:

FWIW, someone distilled all of the incidental sounds out of the “Emergency!” show into this one nice clip. www.youtube.com...
  3:40am
JakeGould:

Also, Chan Marshall is a bit of a loopy nut and her performances are hit or miss based on her genuine mental state at the time.

Ken From Hyde Park:

A set of WFMU DJs vs. that new Amazon Echo machine? See which side can be stumped.
  3:44am
JakeGould:

@Ken: Ehhh… I’m kind of sick of personal robot assistant’s being harassed for human entertainment value. I think humans against humans is the only way to go for a game like that.
Avatar 3:45am
Jherweg:

I am moved by a lot of music Mary. I'm an emotional music listener.
Avatar 3:48am
Mary Wing:

I agree; it'll be embarrassing enough to be defeated by other DJs, crushed by a robot would be too much.
Avatar 3:48am
Jherweg:

Someone needs to do a Heavy Metal Cover of Metal Heart asap.
Avatar 3:50am
Mary Wing:

Chan should do it herself, she already covered it once on the Jukebox album.
Avatar 3:52am
Jherweg:

Now it needs the full Heavy Metal treatment, I want to hear SUnn O or someone do a cover of it.

Avatar 4:16am
Jaackk:

congo
Avatar 4:17am
Jherweg:

The ladies names? Or the Countries names?
Avatar 4:18am
Hiram Mesa:

yeah. congo
  4:22am
JakeGould:

One last thing: Also ladies from Scandinavia. No "C" word there.
Avatar 4:23am
Jaackk:

whatever floats your boat. i like mannequins myself...
Avatar 4:23am
Jherweg:

I keep thinking of that Mannequin episode of the Twilight Zone.
Avatar 4:24am
Jaackk:

that was a weird one.
Avatar 4:26am
Jaackk:

even for an episode of the Twilight Zone.
  4:27am
JakeGould:

Mannequins remind me of the film "Tourist Trap" which creeps me out.

Also this artist I met a while back who had these ripped apart sculptures of the female body who told me bluntly he had erotic experiences with. Thus the dismembered installation.
