I'm still waiting to see them dancin' skirts a-twirl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm
dale:

we had a lonzo and oscar album or two when i was a wee spud. LOVED the wacky cover with the oversized instruments and clownlike outfits.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm
dale:

country comedy time was one. is may the bird of paradise fly up your nose on that?
  7:07pm
finerwhiner:

WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP, can anyone name Dizzy Dean's baseball-playing brother?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm
pacific standard simon:

Daffy, right?
  7:09pm
finerwhiner:

Yep. Don't think he made records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm
Becky:

@dale Don't think that was on Country Comedy Time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm
pacific standard simon:

How about some Geezinslaw Brothers?
  7:13pm
finerwhiner:

Becky doesn't care for 'slaw.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:17pm
sweeks:

Yep, totally killin' it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
pacific standard simon:

I wasn't here last week because there was a conflict with a Giants game. Had to listen on the archive.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm

Man I love these answer records. There seems to be so many of them in classic country
Avatar 7:33pm
adrian in mpls:

i forgot about this gem - so good!
  7:33pm
marc:

The response the Roger Miller's "Dang Me"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm
Becky:

@marc, you've hit the nail on the head, as it were
  7:38pm
JakeGould:

@sweeks: I say it was a trend from the heyday of 45 singles in the 1950s and 1960s. Lots of those response songs exist outside of country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
Becky:

@JakeGould I think you're right. Lots of R&B ones, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
Becky:

But also, lots of songs written from a distinctly male perspective that begged for a female answer, and a few vice versa!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
sweeks:

Definitely. It does seem that most of them are back and forth between male and female singers!
  7:45pm
JakeGould:

@sweeks: Either that or it’s some kid berating teenage issues and then an “answer” from their parent explaining why they have to be an over-beraing d-bag to their own child.
Avatar 7:48pm
pzolla:

Great show today, Becky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Becky:

Thanks, @pzolla!!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
sweeks:

Every heartache/breakup song needs a response song. It's only fair...
  7:50pm
JakeGould:

Ditto what pzolla said. Bravo, Becky!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm
pacific standard simon:

I used to have a girlfriend who sang "House Of The Rising Sun" -- not like this, though.
Avatar 7:51pm
pzolla:

Who produced that Loretta Lynn track btw?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm
Becky:

@pzolla Owen Bradley.
