Doug, late to the party but...funny that you played Pony Blues, as I just finally got that High Water Blues album after many years of searching & am planning to post PB on FB on Aug. 30 in honor of the anniversary of that wild recording session. Just another of our many parallels over the years!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Doug Schulkind:

Lore, to be synchronicitous with you is an honor and a pleasure.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Doug Schulkind:

Speaking of great bass players, the incomparable Cachao (Israel Lopez) is on this Dave Pike track.
Avatar 🥁 11:06am bobdc:

I had never heard of Dave Pike. Thanks for remedying that! According to his Wikipedia page, his 1961 first album had the excellent name "It's Time for Dave Pike."
Avatar 11:06am Carmichael:

Good morning, Doug and faithful. It's the last Friday of August.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Doug Schulkind:

A few years ago, a terrific Afro-Cuban funk comp included this Luis Santi track, but the last 20 seconds of the performance get cut off on the end. A number of other comps then used that incomplete version. Our long national nightmare is over. You are enjoying the COMPLETE version.

Hi Carmichael!

@bobdc
Dave Pike will provide our next music bed in you honor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Mike East:

Hey everybody! It's time for Mike East!
  11:10am Filip:

Hi Doug!
Cachao! Had the pleasure and honor to see him live few times in the late 80s in NYC. With some amazing players of his generation.... They don't make'em like that anymore :-)
  11:10am Mr C:

Dave Pike has had a fascinating career..music melder and blender
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Doug Schulkind:

Mike East is here! And long-time listener Filip is here! Hello gentlemen!
Avatar 🥁 11:13am bobdc:

Speaking of today's bed music, I was surprised that you used two Steve Bernstein things in a row, and then noticed that the Fiddler on the Roof wasn't him. I always assumed it was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Doug Schulkind:

@Filip
An old sorta girlfriend had the opportunity to play (violin) with Cachao. Wow.

@bobdc
That Fiddler on the Roof would go very well on that Diapsora Soul disc. And there would nothing wrong at all with playing more than one track from it as music beds on one show. (Other than the slight guilt I always feel when relegating a great performance to mere "bed" status.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Doug Schulkind:

Some Dave Pike music melding coming up on our next music bed. Many of you have heard this track before, but didn't know the same fellow who performs it was doing Latin rhumba in the '60s. Now ya know!
  11:21am Filip:

Speaking of close encounters with the best of them all... I had for quite a few years Mario Bauza hang out daily, all deck out in a sharp 3 piece suit, outside a bodega on W106 and Amsterdam half a block from my apartment... Of course I had all my Machito LP's autographed by him....
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:23am Brian in UK:

Brian in UK, woohoo!

So I gots the malware, and this time when a page opened itself up with the audio clip that begins,"Important security message..." -- efforts to swat it away opened up the same page and clip a few more times. I had a chorus of the warnings playing simultaneously but with offset timings, and I was hyp-no-tized to do somethin' evil later, I'm pretty sure.
