How long have you had that computer, Jeff?

Maybe it's misspelled on my computer? I don't know. All the tracks are pretty cool.

When I transferred all my music from a drive to my new computer, it lost the itunes metadata for when the tracks were added to my library.

There's an Icelandic musician named Ólafur Arnalds. Might be a good place to start looking.

That happened to me once...transferred a bunch of noise and black metal tracks over and they got jumbled, lost the band names etc. Just a bunch of tracks called "Pain", "Hate" and "Bleak Forest" etc...never really figured it all out

Interesting for me -- that's the year I've always believed I'd die. Might be something like Mark Twain believing he'd die the year that Halley's Comet came back -- and then he did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40am

my father believes he'll die at 84,which is next year; because it's a family tradition- and so he will.

I guess I'll find out if there's anything in it in... about 18 years.

17-18 years ago i felt- & logically thought- i'd live 'till 100 or 101.

Web sources are vague about when in 2033 that eclipse will occur. My death vision was a little more specific: November 2033.

@Eiderdown - It's the Moon's time of the month.

quite like this piece.

as i walked into town to a place where there's less ambient light than in my yard ('sounds backwards, right?) there were clusters of people frequently; assembled- usually with beverage or herbs, to view the moon. there was occasional human howling as well.
...i like my town!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59am
coelacanth:

(what a beautiful song.)
Avatar 4:02am
slugluv1313:

@ coelacanth: agreed! absolutely adore "Harvest Moon," was thinking about it and singing it my head when i was walking about earlier . . . the clouds cleared a bit, moved away from the Moon -- but only AFTER the eclipse!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02am
pacific standard simon:

@coelacanth - I know what you mean. I have a great front yard, with a piece of a view of Seattle, but there's a big ass street light over the intersection. The eclipse was nice, but it would have been better a block or two closer to town.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04am
pacific standard simon:

Moonlight becomes you, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07am
coelacanth:

slugluv i'm sorry you missed it. i got lucky here.
- i don't know why i didn't think of that song all night. i played songs on the jukebox at the bar- and that one would've been a hit for sure.

Jeff, i don't feel morose when i consider my body's demise.

Only recently discovered that Rush cover of David Wiffen. It's really good. Quite a different approach than the original and Roger McGuinn's (which I listen to daily)
Avatar 4:36am
slugluv1313:

All That Jazz is amazing, finale is SO 1970s-over-the-top! DEFINITELY check it out! (and i am not just saying that b/c i am a huge Fosse fan too!)
the Moon here was BLAZING all night, despite the clouds! then decided to be all *shy* when it was time for the eclipse here -- ??!
reading & kinda doing a crash course in tetrads, Blood Moons, Harvest Moons, etc. (apparently this is a Harvest Moon too; next month is a Blood Moon) . . . there will be more Blood Moon eclipses but no more Super-Moon Blood Moons until 2032/2033 -- lots of information here:

CDToaster:

@Pacific: Yeah, I'm getting that too. What OS are you running?

@Jeff: I've loved that Driving Wheel song so much, for so long (45 years), I thought Rush wrote it! Listening to the writer's version, and the Byrds', I believe this is one of those rare instances where Rush's cover is superior to the original, or to any other for that matter. There's really something about Tom's delivery that hits the heart so I identifiably, especially as I age. I think Tom's version is perfect. And you Jeff, are the only dj to play that piece on an archived playlist, believe it or not. Beautiful choice and wonderful show. You really know your stuff.
Avatar 5:14am
Jeff Conklin:

@CDToaster:

Did you check out the version from McGuinn's first solo LP? It's better than the one the Byrds recorded for (but left off) 'Farther Along'. To me, McGuin''s reading is so exasperated and almost frantic it makes it incredible.
Avatar 5:19am
CDToaster:

No Jeff, only the Byrds' ver., not McGuinn's solo so I'll do that now... thanks for the tip. Will get back to you soon.
Avatar 5:20am
Jeff Conklin:

Don't do it now! There's 40 minutes left to the show ;)

the Canterbury wood-elf:

Damn, missed my favourite Dead song. But I did get up at 3a.m. and see the (spectacular) eclipse.
Avatar 5:36am
CDToaster:

@Jeff: Just heard Roger's ver. on YouTube but don't worry, I didn't leave your wonderful show - my computer's set up so I can listen to several things at once, with each volume independently controlled. The song's as you described. But I still strongly prefer Tom's. At 62, my favs will probably never change. I go back to when Brewer & Ship did Witchi-Tai-To, before (I believe) their One Toke Over the Line fame. I learn so much from you and fmu. Thanks for great selections tonight!
