I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Ha, that "monster" on the bed might be just a cat!

Could be Krampus, waiting for the holiday season to really kick in!

Hi, Mayuko. I don't have a haiku yet today. Maybe some other time. The critter on the bed looks like it could be one of Faye's creations.

Mayuko:

I think you're right Dave B, that should be similar to that thing Krampus. Hello Ken from Hyde Park! I don't seem to remember seeing anything really evil in her creations, but this one on the bed could be more nasty despite of its harmless look!

@Mayuko - You did a great job on Dave Hill's show last week. You got quite a bit of air time. You might become one of his regulars?

Thanks for your kind words Ken! Dave said we should do it together again soon, so maybe I'll be called in again to deliver a professional toilet talk sometime.

I read a novel about 10 years ago (in English translation) an isolated Japanese sea coast village in the medieval period survives by extracting salt from the sea and plundering passing ships they lure onto rocks. This works for them just barely until they plunder a plague ship then the entire village dies including the narrators family.

The author Akira Yoshimura said in the preface he wrote it to illustrate the principle "Mono no Aware." The book haunts me.

I do like your show.
Avatar 6:35pm
Mayuko:

Thank you, paul b. Mono no aware is a feeling that's hard to explain, but I think it does come from some sense of emptiness and melancholy, but to sublimate them into beauty, which kinda relates to the feeling I've had for today's show.

Ken From Hyde Park:

@Mayuko - How did things at Pelham turn out? Your opening reception was well received?
Avatar 6:52pm
Mayuko:

Ken, I think so. Lots of people were there but they were different type of crowd from the ones I had been familiar with - not like the ones in Brooklyn etc - they were older. And seemed to have money! haha.

Dave B:

I get that kind of mono no aware feeling when I visit the cemetery...

Mayuko:

Take that festive feeling back, Dave B! I guess it's my fault, haha.

No not at all...
The impermanence of things, and the beauty that they once were.

Mix in. Little Seasonal Affective Disorder and it all just gels...

"La règle" means "the rule" and "camizole" probably means "straightjacket" (the french word for that is actually "camisole de force" so it could be just a regular garment, but I think my translation is more likely)
That Depeche Mode track reminded me that that tour was the first show I ever saw. I went there with an Italian friend and his father cooked pasta for us after the show. I remember the pasta more than the music, which is weird because I have a let's say complicated relationship with food
Avatar 3:05pm
Mayuko:

The first music show you went in your life was Depeche Mode?! That's pretty cool (esp comparing to MY first show which was Michael Jackson, but at least it was in the 80's...) Having a good relationship with food is not easy, but hope that's not anorexia you're having a problem with! That'd be toughest.
