That "Country Roads" has been a frequent ear worm my whole lofe, especially when I was a kid. Maybe that explains it...

I have never been to West Virginia. A good friend of mine loves it. I would definitely like to go there!

Didn't the Denver hoard gas or somesuch in the Seventies? I remember some shameless slander on that score.

That's exactly it, Steve1, thanks. Will always love the guitar on that tune, whatever happens.

@ Dean--educational, eh? Maybe some of the dental clinics for the poor would be a good side trip, too. This is funny but also it makes me think of all the ways humans have mistreated animals... John Denver hoarding gas--funny.

Hmmmmm. If I get an FM transmitter that's used in cars, do you think that would that have enough range for my entire apartment?
  2:41pm
Clay:

Listening at work. I remember doing pirate radio in Tampa in the late-'90's. Just wondering as to the status of pirate stations today in NY/NY and beyond? Seems FMU listeners would be aware of such things. Our old station, 97X used to get raided by the FCC. Then the station would hold a multi-band benefit to buy a transmitter and set up shop again. We even broadcast from a laundry room back then. Totally fun. At one point the FCC was going to issue micro-broadcaster licenses, but that talk seemed to fade away.

If it's like this one, (Eyepatch) Fox, probably not: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=10402&gclid=CJK6-cCG0skCFYlafgodvLgE5A Range is 5 meters. You'd need a repeater, which suggests you might as well go for a whole house device.
  2:48pm
Marie:

Were those classic 80s production values on that Rand and File song?
Avatar 2:48pm
(Eyepatch) Fox:

Thanks Dean! Yes, the problem seems to be that most of these are made for cars, where range isn't really an issue. I figure its the best method to get music all over my apartment playing at the same time, while allowing me the fun of buying neat old radios! I'm just going to have to find one not designed for cars, which is proving difficult.

Well, there's this one nominally for the "whole house" (150 ft. radius): http://sourcefmtransmitter.com/shop/whole-house-fm-transmitter-3/?gclid=CPOC_pGI0skCFZBhfgodgV0GLQ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm
Rich in Washington:

@(Eyepatch) Fox: I've used quite a few of them. In my experience, most are really anemic output-wise, due to FCC restrictions. I think C Crane makes a pretty OK 'whole house' transmitter.

Played Laura Cantrell during the last road trip with the family. Have to pick up this album, though.
